View Full Version : Vidic
This lad's playing great stuff for Utd this season, have to say when i seen him last season he looked very dodgy and indecisive, this season however he's been rock solid and formed a great partnership with Rio Ferdinand.
He's my type of player to be honest, strong and defends for his life,
i know we were linked with him last season but still i'd rather have Agger
out of the two, that's not sayng Vidic is a poor player though far from it.
Thoughts on Vidic?
quality this season. he had a few dodgy games last season but he has been a great signing for man u. i prefer agger as his technique and overall game is better than vidic. vidic would have been the ideal replacement for sami as he's great in the air though wouldnt he?

A good signing for my fantasy football team, sadly :(
looked like a good non-signing for us last season, sadly yeah this season he's proven that assessment wrong :(

I was disappointed that we didn't get him originally but overall given the choice between him and Daniel Agger (together with the difference in price), I think we did well.
Daniel Agger could be a class act for Liverpool for many years to come. Vidic has started this season off very well but long term we have made the better signing.
Vidic would have been the ideal Sami replacement, looks like a really exceptional player. He has also bought the best out of Ferdinand.
Agger and Vidic are very different types of CB and in my opinion would form a fabulous pairing. I think both players were good signings for the teams they went to. At the minute Vidic is the better player but Agger has the ability to add the possibility of playing out from the back to our team, which I think we needed. If he was to become more authoritative and better in the air then he would be a world class defender.
Proof, if ever it was needed, that it takes time to adapt to the English league.

True but you need time to adapt to any new team even if it's the same league. Look at Kewell, Finnan and Saha.
read in the Sunday times today ( i know it's Thursday, but there was a copy knocking about at mum and dads today) about how we missed out on Vidic due to lack of cash and that Vidic is now the best defendar in the league!

Difficult to argue on an individual basis but him and Ferdinand have certainly looked the best CB pairing in the league this season. The improvement that Ferdinand has made this season over last is enormous and I would say the majority of that is due to Vidic finding his feet and organising the defence.
I don’t doubt that at all mate, but how anyone can declare him the best defender in the league after 3 and a bit good months (after three and a bit fucking shit months last term) is beyond me. I think John Terry, as much as it pains me to say it, Ledley King and one or two others might have something to say about that.
It is definitely a bit soon to be making such an assessment but people are prone to doing it and people have lavished praise on Agger at times and he hasn't done half as well as Vidic so far.
I like Ledley King and when he was out you noticed the difference at Tottenham but I think he is definitely a rung below Terry (and where Vidic is performing at the minute).
Ledley King is underrated for me, I think he's a fabulous defender.
