Wycombe won one nil!!:haha:

Can Les Reed survive? I bet the Charlton board of directors are gutted about giving him that 3 year contract.

I can't believe that they gave him a new 3 year contract.:jaw:

I hope that the draw pitts Wycombe Vs Liverpool/Arsenal. If we get through then it's almost a pass through to the final.

Is it Spurs v Southend and Toon v Chavs?

It is. So that should be us and the chavs in the final if all goes to plan. I would prefer us V Southend though!

I've no sympathy for Charlton.

Sacking Dowie was a crazy decision and one that will no doubt cost them.

I think Pardew will be there sooner or later. They can't continue with Les Reed in charge.

Their board of directors have said that there wont be another managerial change this season. The only problem for them is that next season will be to late.

There are too many London teams in the Premiership anyway, I won't be sad to see them go.

Arsenal
Chavski
Spurs
West Ham
Watford
Charlton
Fulham

That's a third of the premiership. Ridiculous :shake:

So it wasn't a challenge beating them 3-0 on Saturday ... We should have stuffed them 10-0.

Just what I was thinking. They're fucked and they're going to be relegated, when if they'd stuck with Dowie, I think things would have eventually worked out.

For info - when Dowie was manager - Les Read/Reid was already coaching the team.

If Charlton have any hope of staying up they should demote Read back to coach and get a new manager asap - and not Pardew either. There are plenty of decent managers in the lower divisions who would jump at the chance to keep Charlton up.

The whole situation at Charlton comes back to the same arguement about coaching badges: Les Read has got the lot of 'em but can't see what's in front of his face footballwise. And then there are experienced ex-international players with no badges at all managing in the premiership - and doing a better job.

It appears to me Charlton appointed a technical man - when they should have appointed a football man.

They deserve everything they get for their treatment of Dowie. I can safey say after Saturday's game that they are the worst side I've seen in the Premiership this year. Les Reed hasn't a clue what he is doing and it shows.

I think Watford will go down too, and there's no London teams at the top of the Championship so that number will be cut down by 2.

Watford's not in London. Nor is Charlton really since they're south of the river.

Neither am I.

I think to be honest that Read is just an out of date tactitian with an inflated sense of self. He is currently my least favourite Premiership manager.

The ex-player/badges thing is an interesting debate. I think what it comes down to is what Trevor Brooking has said in that the current badges are not really good enough. If they were then clubs would probably make all players get qualified in them as the additional thinking about tactics etc could only benefit everyone.

It is pretty obvious that the standard of coaching right through the system in this country was allowed to fall way behind Europe for a long time. The current system is trying to redress that but while the badges are worthless and seem to have very little hard assessment in them I'm not sure that it is the right way to go about it.

isn`t Wimbledon south of the river. And Crystal Palace?
So they are not "real" London thems?
What`s south of the river called? (expects a lot of good suggestions here)

Plus the fact that managers who don't have badges are still being allowed to take Premiership jobs makes the badges lose their credibility.

London was originally north of the river. It obviously extends well into the south now but pointing out that historical fact is usually good for teasing anyone living in those suburbs on the wrong side of the Thames.

Crystal Palace is in south London but they're not in the Premiership. Brentford, QPR and Leyton Orient are also in London but aren't Premiership teams.

Wimbledon used to be a south London suburb but thanks to, er, continental drift I suppose, is now in Milton Keynes.

True. It's not in the Premiership either. Also, they don't play in Wimbledon either but in Kingston, at Kingstonian's ground.

There is always another smartarse out there. :handshake:
