"Latest news filtering through is that....
PENNANT IS IN LIVERPOOL NOW AND IS ON THE BRINK OF SIGNING FOR 6.2M.
Yikes, I'm not sure about this one at all, smacks of transfer desperation as far as I'm concerned. I seriously hope Jermaine Pennant realises Rafa's given him a lifeline with this one, he doesn't really deserve this oportunity.
No second chances with us Pennant. None. At. All."

I doubt it will be Kuyt to be honest, purely because I dont think we've got 12m + to be playing around with.
Maybe Klose, or Trez on loan, or maybe even that young greek fella....
i think could would only cost 8-9M and alves about 10-11M
so were talking 20M really.
having said that we never pay all upfront, always in installments.
i think he may well go for alves and a player on loan lik trez or ibrahimovic
or just 1 striker being bought, either kuyt, trez or klose

A loan deal would be great from our point of view but I don't see why Juve would allow it. He'd be over almost 32 by the time they got back up to Serie A, and in the final year of his contract too. Plus they've taken a heavy hit losing sponsorships etc, and with such a small matchgoing fan base they'll need to raise as much as they can from selling players. As much as I'd love it I really don't fancy our chances of getting him on loan....unless you know otherwise of course :D
yeah i agree, but if we do get a striker in on a loan deal, then rafa still has a fair bit of cash to play with so i wouldnt rule out alves
Totally agreed. It could be that Rafa's plan is to get a striker in on loan (i.e. Trezeguet) and leave money left over for more bids for Alves - hence the alleged plans to get rid of Kromkamp. If the Dutchman does leave, then we simply have to sign another right back...leaving the door open for Alves - who would also provide another right wing option.
Then we'd have Pennant/Alves competing for the right wing slot, with Stevie also an option. Two right backs Finnan/Alves, thus pretty much completing the "two top players for every position" jigsaw.
All supposition of course but it's feasible and, if I may say so, pant-wettingly exciting. :D

on a serious note, I dont mind Pennant (as long as he leaves his mobile at home), and for 6m its not too bad imo. He has quality and is a diamond in the rough at the moment but with top quality coaches, some dicipline and a right diet plan he could be superb for us for many years to come.
I wouldnt mind Treza on a loan deal, even for a season with the option of buying him next year, at least this way we can save the 10m we have left and either buy him next year if he turns out ok or ship him back off to Juve and put that 10m towards someone like Torres or Villa.

if were honest, how many of us actually know much about alves? we've seen pennant produce the goods week in week out in the premiership for 2 years now.
hes a boyhood red and is desperate to play for us, hes only 23, so we'll get years out of him.
and we can now afford to buy a top quality striker also.
its a win win situation for us

having seen alves a fair few times i must admit that i'd rather have had him than pennant but i completely understand why pennant has been signed. even if we have spent

problem?
No disrespect to you kopdan, but someone here referred to you as an insider who can be trusted "100%". Even more reliable than Chris Bascombe, Elisha_Scott etc.

only a retard would say that
I'd rather have Alves too but I have always rated Pennant highly, Whenever he played for the U21s he appeared to be lightning quick and i remember being very jealous of Arsenal when he made his premiership debut and scored a Hat-Trick. We've got a great player if Rafa can control him and i'm sure he will knuckle down at the club he supports.
FWIW i'd rather have Klose than Kuyt even though they are both good buys.
