Apparently, according to a guy on YNWA called 'mick the baker' who says that carra told him kuyt will be done by friday

now normally people are laughyed out of that forum, but he isnt being ridiculed so he must have a track record, although ive never heard of him myself

Think that make me wonder is that he says it comes from Carra. I know Rafa talks and listens to players like Carra, Gerrard and Hyypia, but it`s unlikely they would know anything about a deal like this. This transfer has allready had alot of twists, and knowing what will happend on friday is hard.

i'd say its very likely that the players would know if he was coming in. i don think new signings just turn up at melwood and surprise the other players.

if a player is signed then im sure rafa will tell the whole squad hes coming in

Resu

But the players would only be told when the deal is already signed. So that means it`s a done deal, which is good. I just find it stange that if it`s a done deal why has the player, or any of the clubs said anything?

maybe it is done subject to medical, which means he has to fly to liverpool and do that then fly out to the squad in switzerland and join them.

friday seems a good timeline to me

I have never been convinced by Kuyt to be honest...He has disappointed me everytime I've watched him play. 'Privately' hoping that the deal doesn't come off...

But if he does end up a Liverpool player, I will support him. I trust that Rafa will make the right decision...

Signing Kite ;) on Friday would make me happy and make up for the disappointment of not signing Alves........

Klose would not cost half the price. So that argument seems a little odd. I would rather we bought Klose too, but then I haven't seen much of either player. From what I have seen Kuyt offers more to the team outside the box, but I really want to see an out and out goal scorer in the prime of their career come in.

saw him in action during the world cup, doesnt look that good to me as well but then again they can say he is being played out of position......but he did miss a good one on one chance vs the portugese tho..

First post on here guys go easy! :handshake:

I personally think that we should go easy on Kuyt, I know he did'nt have the best world cup, but so many of the top players did'nt (Lampard etc), plus he was played out of position.

If we do sign him then I will be happy because the guy has got a history of scoring goals.

Actually, I wasn't judging Kuyt from the few games he played at the World Cup. The World Cup merely served to re-enforce my opinions about the player...I rarely judge a player based on his World Cup performances...

i honestly believe diouf is not that bad a player, its his attitude that stinks

I have seen Kuijt play about a hundred times for FC Utrecht and he is a decent player who always gives 100% and scores potloads of goals.

He is rated by Cruijff and Van Basten.

My expectation is that he would make a dynamic duo with Crouch.

He is the equal of Trez, Yakubu, Defoe etc.

I'd prefer Villa or Zlatan.

Well, hope you are right puredale.

I havn't watched enough of Dirk Kuyt, so you are probably in a better position to judge than me...

But seriously, I have catched him ONLY on his bad days...He just looked terrible everytime I got the rare chance to watch him play...

I agree. I think he was a very good player. But he just wasn't good enough for us. When you play for the bulge-bracket teams (Pool, Scums, Chelski & Arse), expectations are going to be that much higher. Unfortunately, Diouf just did not meet those expectations. That doesn't mean he is a bad player though. He's done very well at Bolton so he is definately Premiership-calibre but just not Liverpool quality.

I think once we have sorted the Pennant and "A Striker" deal, we'll be back for Alves :handshake:

Well i thought that Morientes would be a success for us so I'm no great judge!!

Dirk is a decent guy as well and good for team spirit (I vaguely know his sister - not well enough to phone her up and ask her!!) and always gives his best so if he has any weaknesses I'm sure Rafa and the coaching team will iron them out.

Do you really think we've got the money???

SouthAfricaRed

Do you really think we've got the money???

How much have we actually spent?

Bellamy 6 million
Gonzalez 1.5 Million
Paletta 2 million
Pennant 6 Million
Aurelio Free

That equals 15.5 million

We sold

Morientes for 3 million
Barragan for 1.7 Million

That makes it 10.8 million for 5 players. Of which 4 will be First teamers this season. That's stellar business

Now if we can get Kuijt for 6 million + Dudek and Kromkamp. That would push our spending up to 17 million.

When we qualify for the Group Stages of CL, that will free up an extra 5 million plus. I think we'd manage a 10 million bid + clauses for Alves.

Also remember that we are Rid of Medjani, Cheyrou, Cisse,Hamann  and Diao :sigh: . Also Kromkamp and Dudek if Swap deal works. That will free up a lot of money from the wage bill.

Looking very Good, I'd say :haha:

i have to be honest and say i have nly ever seen kuyt play in the world cup never before.

obviously he was poor in the world cup along with the rest of the dutch team but i wont judge him on that.

what i will assume is that rafa has had him watched and has watched him dozens of times and is obviously convinced he has the game to play for liverpool.

good enough for me

Pretty sure that feyenoord want cash and our offers of players in part exchange have all been rejected, like you say though we havent spent alot this summer, but the messages that the manager is giving out, is that we havent got alot to spend

I think it's more a question of not enough Cash with the players mentioned. Kuijt wants CL Football and has already interrupted his training as a protest for them keeping him. As no other CL teams are in for Him, they will soon realize that they dont have much choice

Rafa has had this guy scouted for two years and has made it obvious he sees him as a "top" target.

That's all the recommendation I need.
Rafa needs a player to play in a particular way for his system and sees Kuyt as that man.

Plus in the world cup all of the Netherlands fans and media were crying out for Kuyt to be included. Shame that on that occasion he couldn't repay them.

I want him, he's a grafter, and I've always liked players who work hard.

so will you be happy if they want 11M and we refuse to pay that and we end up with noone or else someone cheaper and maybe rafa's no.3 target as striker?

Erm No! I'll be disappointed if we pay over the odds for a player who's not worth the money, we've not got a huge transfer budget therefore it seems stupid paying too much. Just like were going to pay about

I honestly didn't think Kuyt was as bad in the WC as some people made out. He brought people into the game and did some nice stuff. He wasn't helped by having the 2 biggest hogs in European Football on either side of him. He missed one chance and then went close with another when he created the chance for himself by bugging the defenders.

Like said before, I have seen him play numerous times on ESPN for club and country and he is an excellent player. If we sign him then many too will come to realize this.

Have to say, pre-world cup would of bit someones arm off for Kuijt, Post world cup, not as convinced. The fact that he was playing at a higher level at the world cup than in his home league is what made question his signing. However, I'm not naive or stupid enough to dismiss his signing out of hand due to a bad world cup. You never know, he might turn out to be the opposite to Diouf. Shit world cup, fantastic in the prem etc with Liverpool!:). Was mightly impressed with Klose at the WC, and if we can get him for

Peter_Griffin

Read somwhere that Werder Bremen will let Klose leave as long as its not to another german club,
if we were interested, however there has not been much press speculation about the move.
