Story doing the rounds is that Terry allegadly hurt his back on the dodgems / go-karting

Looks like he's going to be out of action for several weeks as a result.

Probably means if it's true that Chelsea will pay what it takes to sign Richards.

Back injury. Sky Sports

Chelsea are set to be without John Terry for some time after manager Jose Mourinho revealed the England defender may need surgery on his back.

Terry has not played since the win over Newcastle on 13th December and was again absent for the Boxing Day draw with Reading.

And following the 2-2 draw with The Royals, Mourinho revealed he does not know when Terry will be fit to return.

"I've no idea when John Terry will be back," said Mourinho.

"I want John to be back as soon as possible. The medical department will have to make a decision soon.

"The medical department have said surgery might be a possibility. I want them to make a quick decision.

"I don't know how long he will be out for - three days, three weeks or three months, I don't know."

The Guardian (http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,1979691,00.html) says they want him back to play against us, but his surgeon thinks he should do only light training for three months. Let's compromise, light training only until they've played us, then....

Hope he comes back too early and does his back in for the rest of the season.

Since I'm sure we agree he makes a big difference to their team, have you forgotten you might well want Chelsea to win the title? ;)

OK, I remember desertscouser saying he would prefer them to Man Utd. I may have got it wrong though.

Of course, none us actually wants Chelsea to win the title - it's about what you think is the least worst option.

As much as we all hate Chelsea I'm sure we can all agree that them winning the title is far more preferable than the Scum winning it.

Obviously. I can't get my head around the fact there might be Reds out there who'd prefer United to win it than Chelsea??

Like DS says though, it is tricky remembering to want those Chav bastards to keep winning.

TERRY FACES NEW OP SETBACK
Mourinho's amazing attack on the Chelsea board
By John Cross

CHELSEA captain John Terry has suffered a major setback in his recovery from back trouble which raises serious doubts about his fitness for the rest of the season.

Terry will see a specialist to find out if he needs another operation as keyhole surgery to trim a disc in his spine does not appear to have completely solved the problem.

If he does, it could rule him out for the rest of the campaign.

The England skipper was in pain because the disc was putting pressure on his spinal cord and sciatic nerve.

But he is still struggling as the nerve problem has triggered muscle trouble in a thigh, which led to a planned return tomorrow against Wigan being put on hold.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is deeply concerned about Terry and the club faces an anxious wait to find out what the specialist recommends. It would be a big blow to Chelsea's hopes of defending their title should Terry be ruled out for any length of time.

The centre-back has missed eight games, in which Chelsea have conceded 10 goals.

Terry injured, Maureen whinging that the board don't back him and Newcastle have a better squad, rumours of in fighting and behind the back deals with Hiddink. The implosion was always going to happen and it finally has. Problem is, it means United will win the league. :(

AFII

There is a clear reason to why Maureen doesn't get any money to spend. He is off at the end of the season and the new manager will get the money instead.

If Maureen doesn't get any money to spend, it looks like don't, and Terry is out for the rest of the season then we will have a good chance to finish in second place.

Can't see us finishing 2nd AF regardless of Chelsea's problems which are no worse than our own. I don't see how Chelsea's injuries are any worse than our own.

Garcia out
Gonzalez out
Kewell out
Sissoko out

3 of the above 4 are big players for us.

On top of that we seem incapable of beating any of the top sides and I really can't see us doing Chelsea at home which is a crucial fixture. 2nd is not going to happen.

I agree a win doesn't look the most likely result but it's far from impossible. They're vulnerable at the moment. The Watford game is massive for our confidence after those Arsenal games.

Shudders at the memory

I agree.

The Watford game may as well be a cup final. A win would get us back on track. Anything less than that after the shambolic displays against Arsenal would absolutely shatter the players' confidence ahead of the Chelsea game.

Watford is a must win game.

The problem for Chelsea IF Terry is out a long time is that they don't have any cover for him at all. They don't even have defender in the reserves that can cover for him.

We have at least some cover for the injured players and Rafa is close to strenghten our team even more.

They will have to play a lot more attacking football now with Terry out because they simply isn't good enough at the back without him and they don't have that many very good attacking players left with Robben and Cole injured.

Ballack and Sheva isn't good enough. Drogba, Kalou and Lampard is more or less the only attacking threat they have right now.

I hear you AF but you underestimate Maureen's managerial capabilities. He is the master man motivator and the bottom line is, although Chelsea are struggling this season they are still in with a good shout of winning all 4 trophies, more than we can say for ourselves.

Chelsea and Mourinho should not be underestimated regardless of their reported problems and although it disgusts me to admit it, they are still a much better side than we are.

The chavs are there for the taking IMO. They've been very disappointing this season and are only where they are due to Drogba's goals. Keep him quiet and we can do them - no question.

Just gotta 'do' Watford first............
