    Anelka.. what could have been...

This guy loves us for sure:

He would have been a great signing - shame we let him go.

I don't normally make snap, hypothetical comments, but I honestly think we'd have won the league had we bought him and not Diouf

      Bah... **** him.
      Dont want him now.
He is talking us up now that the window is open.
      He is a club hooker.

He has been really good for Bolton of late, but then so had Diouf this season. I think he is a brilliant player but I'm not sure he was the player that would have made us title contenders.

Exactly - he still wants to play for us and is talking us up. Good for him.

Sure, it is nice that he does that, but I think he only does it out of personal motivation.

You can see genuine emotion in his comments sometimes. If it was solely out of personal motivation he would be doing an Owen Hargreaves, talking up whatever clubs happens to be interested in him. Anelka seems to talk us up whether we are reportedly interested or not.

I do think Anelka's enfant terrible reputation has some basis to it but it's a bit harsh at the same time. He was a kid when he was at Arsenal, it's not impossible that he might have changed since then. He's certainly more of a team player now than he was then.

I actually believe he really liked it here. Shame Houllier made a poor decision and got rid.

He could still do a great job for us. Sad that it will probably never happen - Fat Sam would want a kings ransom, and Rafa would tell him (Fat Sam) to **** off.

I think that Anelka has finally got round the idea that it is a team game and has begun to become a more aware player. It is interesting that it has taken spells at lesser teams for this to develop (he was still very selfish at Man City), do people really think that Houllier would have bought him on as a player?

You hear all sorts of rumours of his interactions with other players at us and other teams. I think that at the time it may well have been as much about the fact that our squad was filled with the cliques that Rafa eliminated which might have been misinterpreted from outside as problems with Anelka as an individual.

I guess we will never know what impact signing him and not Diouf would have made on us.

I have to disagree, I think if he was with us he would stay. Apparently he is seen out in Lpool quite a bit and think he is settled in the north east

                        Would be a good signing

but hey all in past now

Always a regret that we didnt sign him. What a player even if he does like a moan, but he was happy here and G.H messed up by letting him go and signing that donkey Diouf

indeed, Anelka is still class. Who knows where we would have been if he stayed with us, esp as he felt so much at home with us.
