Ahh Well, only 1 more year for him.
How did he get a 5yr contract anyway? :miffed:
Are we ever going to be able to move him on?
Ged should do the decent thing and take him off our hands.

Why oh why did Houllier make him sign a FIVE YEAR contract. Isn't four years supposed to be the norm?

I think you are confusing Diao with Traore ?
Diao signed a 5 yr deal under Ged after we bought him for 4.7 million :wall:

Oops...sorry SouthAfricaRed...
For a moment, I thought you were talking about Djimi Traore and his 4 year contract...
But still, 50/week for 5 years is way too much...

Yip If the wages are True. It means Diao cost us 17.2 million for his 5 year stay.
That works out to 290k /game (59 games) or 5.7m / goal (3 goals) :haha:

can we not sell him to some saudi team who would think he was awesome and con them?!?!?!

When I read stats like that, I think life is so unfair sometimes...
As much as I credit Houllier for some brilliant early signings (Hyypia, Henchoz, Camara, Hamann, McAllister), I criticize him for going off the boil and making some terrible decisions in his last two years. So much so that the effects of the failures are still being felt by Rafa and his men. But if Rafa wins the title this year, everything will be forgotten and forgiven!

Make him drive the team bus at least get some value out of him. On second thoughts make him drive the Everton bus, he'll only end up crashing it anyway

apart from one very good challenge from diao - he looked clumsy and the difference when momo came on was amazing -
As for traore, i felt sorry for Aurelio playing with him behind him - constantly tracking back to help and not really showing his capabilities going forward -
they both looked out of sorts i know its preseason but you have to make some sort of effort especially if you know you could be on your way out!!!

Don't quite understand...did Traore play centre-back?
Traore playing centre-back gives me flashbacks of the Benfica game last season...had to be the most inept performance by a professional footballer that I have ever seen.
Fair to him, centre-back was not his favoured position BUT Traore was actually nurtured as a centre-back!!! He was only moved to a full-back position by Houllier AND Benitez because he proved to be ineffectual in his preferred original position...

Heh, I didn't mean it literally, hence
There are similarities thougt, long lucrative contracts and the clubs unability to sell the players.
To Salifs defence one can say that he at least has conducted like a professional football player, unlike my all time favorite Winston :handshake:

Oh yeah, I know what you mean.
I don't blame Salif Diao to be honest with you. You can't blame a player for being crap. It's not his fault. All he did was sign a lucrative professional contract that has handed to him. Even if I'm crap, I would sign it myself.
And I agree with you, his conduct has been first-class.
