Ok maybe I am getting a little ahead of things here but I have been looking at our opening League fixtures and thinking back to last year when we had a dismal start, dropping well behind Chelsea.

This season

Sheffield Utd....Away...will be up for it,Ist game in the Prem
West Ham........Home...want revenge for the Cup Final, but 3 pts for us
Everton...........Away...it's a derby game ,so unpredictable
Chelsea...........Away....we haven't beaten them at their place under Maureen
Barcodes..........Home...easy 3 points
Spurs...............Away...good team but 3 pts are ours
Bolton..............Away...always difficult , check their home record
Blackburn..........Home...3 points
Scum................Away....WE HAVE TO BEAT THIS LOT OF *****

I don't think that this is an easy opening 9 games, if we can get 21 pts with 3 draws I will be very happy, 23 pts with only 2 draws would be fantastic

We really cannot afford to drop behind Chelsea again

Also I think we will need at least 95 pts to win no 19 this year, we could even see a team get over 100 pts for the 1st time

What are your predictions for these 9 games??

Absolutely not! I would have been as positive myself. In fact, more positive than you because I reckon we are going to score more goals this season with the addition of Bellamy, Gonzalez and Pennant. I can't emphasize this point enough, but I have never been as confident as this summer. Feel real good about our prospects...

But as the original poster pointed out, a good start is going to be vital. If we had started better last season, we would have mounted a serious title challenge.

Sheffield Utd....Away...WIN
West Ham........Home...WIN
Everton...........Away...WIN
Chelsea...........Away....DRAW
Barcodes..........Home...WIN
Spurs...............Home...WIN
Bolton..............Away...WIN
Blackburn..........Home...WIN
Scum................Away....DRAW

We need to start beating the bigger teams. If you discount all the games between teams in the top 3-4 then I believe we'd be champions. We were as consistent as Chelski playing the lower teams but we have to start beating Chelski and the Mancs in the league as well as keeping up our consistency against the lower sides.

Good call on this. We need to beat some of these mid / lower table teams and hope to win at least 1 of the 2 matches we play against Scum, Chavs and Arse.

More important than our pts is the pts we prevent Chelski and Manure getting from us. I'd be happy with draws in the away games, but we must beat them at home.

As for a Final Total, I can see Chelski dropping more pts this season. I think a target of 85-90 pts should see us winning the League

Sheffield Utd....Away...3Pts
West Ham........Home...3Pts
Everton...........Away...3Pts
Chelsea...........Away....1Pt

= 23 from 9 games!

Totally plausible!

Nice to see your optimism re Chelsea but I disagree,I think they will raise the bar again and so to beat them will require a record total.
We can be the 1st team to get 100 pts

Agreed. I still do think we need a record total to become champions. Will be difficult but not impossible. But the previous poster made a good point that Chelsea might not be as impressive in the league this season as the last one. Their obvious commitment to winning the Champions League is one reason. And although Shevchenko, Ballack will be impressive additions, I just think Mourinho's decision to let Gudjohnsen, Crespo and Duff might just tip the title our way. Those three players played such a big role in Chelsea's development the last two years and gave the team a nice balance.
