    Real Madrid

Gee whiz they've gone downhill over the last few years. They've just lost 2-0 to Deportivo La Coruna.

I spose you'd have to put it down to their board, but still, they have some class players, and a very good manager, it really is baffling why they don't seem to be performing.

It'll take some time for Capello to sort that mess out. They have a fantastic group of players as you say, but I think the ingrained team mentality and ethos needed to change so much that it was always going to take time.

Well, they lost to Depor earlier ... but I know what you mean, it's disappointing to watch them these days. They'll be back though, and their position in the league isn't that bad either.

If Capello want them to win the league then he more or less must sell every player that has get used to not give a **** about what the manager says.

Raul, Ronaldo, Guti, Carlos, Helguera, Salgado, Cassano and Beckham must be sold IMO if Capello want to solve the problem they have. After that he can sign his players that will do what he tells them to do on the pitch.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Capello is a big fan of Raúl and won't sell him. And I don't think the players you mentioned don't listen to him, they are decent professionals, apart from Ronaldo who is a fat, lazy, spoiled Brazil kid (albeit with a great ability to beat goalkeepers). They are trying to sell him, but no one wants him, which isn't a surprise really.

They're only five points off top spot, aren't they? They aren't exactly in freefall. Sevilla lost their first game after the mid-season break and Barcelona drew theirs so it's not a major crisis for Madrid to lose.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Some FM2007 nuts may be interested to know that Real Madrid signed Marcelo (wonderkid left wing back from Fluminense), Fernando Gago (defensive midfielder from Boca) and Gonzalo Higuain in recent months.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I think it seems reasonable to assume that when you become head scout for Real you get issued a copy of FM by the board.

I'd be raiding Real Madrid in FM2008 then!
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

Yeh i realise that. But they used to dominate La Liga and no one ever wanted to draw them in the Champions League. They were pretty much invincible, but now many teams have overtaken them.

IMO, they would achieve something if they played Owen. But since they preffered Raul... Well...

Sure. I was merely trying to point out that Capello isn't doing such a bad job.

As for their relative decline in recent seasons, the flaws in the Galactico idea became apparent and their expectations got too high (e.g. sacking Del Bosque after winning La Liga or the CL or both (sorry, can't remember which)).

Watched this game. They were shocking, the worst I have ever seen from them. Disjointed, misplaced passes, no heart. You name it.
