Dunno about you lot but i`m looking forward to keeping a closer eye on this seasons reserve team. can see thim pissing the title. Not only have we got a new manager in ecstasy tablet (who seems very ambitious) who will be eager to impress, but we have also got a team full of hungry young players now, quite a few of whom know they are very close to getting a 1st team shout. I think the reserves will be a lot more results based this season rather than just being used to develop the kids without too much emphasis on results. Also, abbo impressed the shit out of rafa with his tactics board so he must know what hes doing. The days of the reserves being full of 1st team so-called stars who are sulking at being in the "stiffs" have definitely gone.

One problem that seemed to exist last year is that our reserves generally are 'U18s' + 'one or two First teamers getting practice', while other teams might have 'Several first teamers not in first team'

Men vs Boys, so to speak.

We should do well, but sometimes it won't be a fair contest.

Actually, I've just got that.

That's quite possibly one of the worst exmplaes of rhyming slang I've ever come across.

I think this year they will be much stronger though, although i feel we could do with a good young centre mid in there. Hobbs isnt a midfielder at all (i know its just ppart of his development for his future career at centre half). We have exciting talent in defence, on the wings especially, and up front. just centre mid i think needs a good young face in there

I agree with most of your comments, although not sure about that one. Reserves will be a lot more results based? Regardless, I am really looking forward to the reserves this season and ESPECIALLY the young kids. I think we have kids, for the first time in a long while, that are genuine prospects that may well be knocking on the doors of the first team very soon. (Hammill, Anderson, Guthrie etc). Benitez's decision throw in the (awful) Darren Potter last season showed that he is willing to give these young boys a chance...

Heres one hoping.
