Maybe O'Neill thinks Ellis will leave. It's a risky game to play but how long can O'Neill sit back with the beeb until Fergie quits? He can't stay out for too long as he'll become stale. I thought he should have taken the Boro job to get him back into football. It's difficult to fail there as they have one of the most supportive, forgiving, generous chairmen in the premiership. Ellis is the opposite.
O'Neill needed a job this summer in my opinion, I don't think villa is the best choice he could have made though.
That would be a shock - why the fuck would someone of his standing want to do that??
Maybe he likes a challenge:o :o
villa will be a hard team to get motivated after whats happened this summer,Thats if the millionaire yank, doesent release any cash, they desperately need players
He's a better manager than he is a pundit and he'd be a welcome personality in the Premiership.
He's clever, he'll have clauses left right and center.
Odds on his first spat with Mourinho?
It should be a good year for interviews with Warnock and O'Neill joining the ranks of PL managers.

Too true. I can't wait to see Warnock locking horns with that Mourinho twat...and O'Neill leaping around on the touchline, antagonising the likes of Wenger and Jol.
I can't stick Warnock, but if he makes a fool of Mourinho, I will be very happy.

He wont say anything to Maureen.
Warnock has come out and said, Fergie and Maureen were the first to congratulate him when they got into the Premier League. Maybe that was a canny move by both of them, prefering to keep him quiet now rather than later?
I know he'll be talking all kinds of shit in the week before our game.

Yeah.
Sure he will have to, first game of the new season and all. Im sure Rafa will be well able for him though.
Have to say though, I think we should start playing players with a realistic chance of doing something this season in the warm up to the new season. The lads were talking about having a good go from the very start. A bit of confidence wouldnt go astray.

He's on a touchline ban so it won't be as funny as normal - Feck!

What's the big deal with Warnock? Those of us who don't live in the Uk don't get much coverage of the lower divisions.
He's a lard-arsed media-whore with an overblown estimation of his own importance and humour. He spends the entire 90 minutes shouting at the nearest official he can find, about a foul throw that wasn't given Sheffield United's way in the 3rd minute.
He's a cock, and I hope his piss-poor team of over paid has-beens and David Unsworths get raped week in, week out.

Can only imagine O'Neil's got a tip off about Doug's dodgy heart...
No way he'd take that job unless he was guaranteed cash to splash.
Apparently, Doug's gonna give it a year, and then move on/croak.
Thus, O'Neill must feel that stciking up with him for a year will be worth it in the long-run.
The BBC say that all 4 potential investors want him as manager so I think he feels that it is a no loose situation. He wants to get back into football and Villa have the potential to do much better than they are and have people who may give him money waiting in the wings. If things go wrong he can blame the instability at the club.
There are some decent young players at Villa and the makings of a decent defence so, if/when O'Neill signs I think they will improve a lot.
