View Full Version : Bellamy
I reckon we could lose him for 2 to 3 games during the course of the season due to his temperament. Saw a snippet yesterday when he kicked out at grasshops goalie. Would have been a red card if the ref seen that. :D
Anyway, love him. :)
yeah I agree, especially with his reputation teams will go out to wind him up.
Did you see him against Kaiserslautern, when he scored but it was disallowed as the ref/linesman said it didn't cross the line. He was giving the linesman loads of verbal over it, the poor lad only looked about 16 and was shitting himself:haha:

I happened right in front of me...it was not a red as he kept control at the end...perhaps when he realized what he had in front of him:D ..That goalie is big and very good too...he will be switzerland number 1 soon...
I didn't see anything wrong with what Bellamy did in that challenge, he was entitled to go for the ball, he didn't attempt to kick the player, and they just kinda tangled. Nothing in it for me.

He did have a go at the goalie mate. He restrained at the last minute though but you can see the fiery character in him. He's no angel. :)

I thought that he didn't do anything wrong with what happened with the goalkeeper

He's no angel, but I honestly didn't think he went for the player - just more a tangle, and the secondary movement of Bellamy's leg was to steady himself as he'd just felt the collision.
We'll have to agree to disagree! :handshake:

Just looked at it again on the e-season highlights. It was defo an attempt to kick the goalie. He refrained himself at the last moment. :D
yeh, i reckon he'll miss about 10 in total, combination of injuries and yellow/red cards, but who cares, he's a fcuking legend

He's an improvement on what we had, so I'm 200% behind him. BTW A bit of the old rough and tumble is necessary in this day and age.

He's what the Oirish call a "skanger" but I'll gladly bear his offspring if he scores 20 goals this season.

I'm genuinely shocked so many people hold this view.
Is he really a significant improvement on Djib ?
Team-wise, he's an improvement yes Jamo.
Goals-wise, sadly not.

he is an improvement goal wise as bellamys goals have come against better teams ....Cisse Scored 19 but mostly against the likes of the skerja heziwhothehellrya crap teams of europe

Yes, I think FIFA should introduce a grading system.
Goals against top European clubs should count double, so a 2x multiplier.
Goals against top English sides (top four finish previous season) should have a 1.5 multiplier
Goals against middle-tier Premiership sides count 1x (normal).
Goals against lower league sides and "European pub teams" should have a multiplier of 0.5.

I think I remember the commentator mentioning that both the assistants were women in that game. She was lucky to just get verbal if you believe everything you read. :D

Don't see how he's a legend? I feel though that he might not even be sent off this season as he will be on his best behaviour.

I will be astonished if he doesn't get sent off, or at the very least pick up more than a few bookings and suspensions.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that he will have a fantastic season.

We all know he can be a horrible little c**t, but what's his red card record like? I don't recall him being sent off on too many occasions in the past?

I feel that he will have a good season score about 15 goals max. Also I feel that if we kept Cisse he would score over 20 goals this season but wouldn't contribute as much as Bellamy or Crouch in terms of assists.

I can't remember him being sent off either, thats why I don't think he will get sent off. Also I feel we might see a new Craig this year after getting married and joining the club of his dreams

The more I think about it the more I'm inclined to agree.
I know he's never been consistently great for any club but I do think he's improved over the last few years and we could have signed him at the perfect time.
He seems to think so himself.

I'm racking my brain now and I honestly can't ever remember him being sent off in the Premiership. I remember him smacking Materazzi in Europe and receiving a red card, but that's about it.

Can't remember that but if he did smack Materazzi he should of been given an award the bluenose scum.
He's been sent off twice in the Premiership.

I don't remember him doing too many awful things during his career.
The dominant image I have of him is of his rather ugly face contorted into a bitter and twisted visage as he complains for the 50th time in 10 minutes to the officials, his team mates, the bench and his opponents.
I don't remember him being like some kind of "out of control" psycho though.
I just hope he watches his mouth in the European games.

I remember Bellamy being sent off in a game at Highbury a few years ago. From what I can recollect Ashley Cole feigned injury and Bellamy was sent off. Newcastle went on to win the game (1-3 I think!).
Anybody else remember this?
I’m sure it was the same game when Terry Henry was trying to get at the ref after the final whistle and had to be restrained by Alan Shearer.

Bellamy's goals record is actually better than most think.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/stats?id=8952
just under 1 in 2.
In the Premier League, he's got 85 in 250 games.
1 in every 3'ish.
