Not much time to discuss but who'dya fancy for this one?
They're both after the WBC interim Welterweight title tonight in Vegas.
Collazo impressed many people with his performance against Hatton but is Mosely still good enough to do a job on him? Having not seen Mosely fight for ages now I can't call this.
Jaco? Bazza? Kurt? Steve?

I think Mosely will K.O. Collazo in the middle rounds. It's a shame that we won't get to see the fight until Wednesday. Sky were supposed to be showing it live.

Mosley by the eighth round. Mosley hits a lot harder than Hatton, so I expect him to stop what is a very tough fighter in Collazo.
Mosley impressed me when he fought Vargas, ok Vargas was not the fighter he once looked like he could be, but Mosley went in and did the job, twice.

Mosely aswell Howard. He was looking good in his last fight, cant remember who it was, Collazo still has alot to learn.
Is the fight on TV tonight? Sky ran an advert for next wednesday earlier but i seen nothing about tonight?.

Mosely wins a very one-sided fight after 12 rounds
He scored the only knock down late in the 11th Round.
It was apparent very early on that there could only be one winner.
Collazo is a very game fighter, but Mosely was far too experienced for him.

Am I the only one that really hate "Interim" World titles?

No, I hate them to. Why did they not just strip Floyd of the title, it's not as if he want's it because he's moving up to Light-Middleweight, and both Mosely and Collazo fight for the vacant belt?
No surprises that Mosely won. Collazo is a good boxer but one of the reasons he looked so good against Hatton was his size advantage. He never had that luxury last night because he was in with a bigger and stronger man in Mosely.

Sky are showing the full fight on Wednesday. They were initially putting it on live but obviously changed their minds.

Yeah, Mosley had the advantages, size, power and experience. Be interesting to see where Mosley goes next.
Just noticed you spell Mosley in the European way of Mosely.

Oops, I never realised that I spelt it wrong.
I think Mosley goes on from here as the WBC Welterweight champion and possibly fights the likes of Cotto or Margarito.
It's Collazo that I'm more curious about. He's a nearly man and whenever he's been in with big name boxer he's lost. I wonder where he'll go from here?
Vivian Harris also won last night against Juan Lazcano to set up a fight with Junior Witter. I'm not a big fan of Harris but I definitely thik that he'll give Witter a few problems. Witter is the WBC champion but he's never been in with guys who have the experience of Harris apart from Zab Judah and Witter basically ran for 12 rounds and didn't want to know. His last defence, his only defence infact, was against a hand picked bum who wouldn't have a chance against many fighters on the world scene. I wonder how Witter will cope with someone who can actually hit back?! I doubt that he can and could possibly lose his belt before he even manages to entice Hatton in to the ring.

No, there are two spellings of the name. :handshake:
I doubt that Witter really wants to be in the same ring as Hatton. I could see Hatton stopping him by mid fight. Witter will continue to do what he does best, talk trash and handpick fights. I would fancy Harris to beat Witter, unless Witter got on his bike for the fight, and stayed out of reach.
I think Mosley has an eye on the Mayweather/De La Hoya bout, as will a lot of fighters.
Collazo is an interesting one, that is two big losses for him, although it was against top level performers.
What do you make of the news that Hopkins is trying to line up a fight on June 14th? That retirement did not last long. Question would be who has he got his eye on? Is he another waiting for the outcome of Mayweather/De La Hoya, or is he watching the middleweight/super middleweight waters. There was a rumour that he and Roy Jones Jnr may get together for a rematch at the end of this year.

I don't think the general public have much of an appetite for Roy Jones these days and the fight probably wouldn't make the dollars that would appeal to Hopkins or Golden Boy Promotions.
There was talk of Hopkins stepping up to Heavyweight to fight Maeskev but that seems to have gone quiet.
If Hopkins must come out of retirement then at has to be against some one like Winky, Calzaghe or a rematch with Taylor. There'd be no point in him fighting Oscar because he's already beaten him fair and square. Perhaps Mayweather would be up for it but again I think Hopkins beats him. If he could entice Trinidad out of retirement then that would be a fight worth seeing.
I see that Gatti is also scheduled to come out of retirement some time around July with an as yet un-named opponent. Perhaps that's a route Collazo could take. Corrales has apparently thrown his name into the mix for that fight and seems the most likely.
I'd like to see Gatti come back down to Light-Welterweight and fight if he is going to return so maybe a fight with Witter or Hatton could be good at one stage.

Witer would shit himself in a ring with Gatti, even a shop worn version of Gatti. Hatton would take Gatti out at this stage.
I don't think Hopkins will try the heavyweight waters, even at his peak, it would have been a step too high for him. He does not hit hard enough to bother a half decent heavyweight, unlike Jones or Toney.

Yeah I think Hatton would beat Gatti but it would a great fight while it lasts. Witter couldn't stand the pressure that Gatti would put him under. Gatti is my favourite boxer of all time. He's been in so many wars and his fights with Micky Ward were some of the best wars that I've seen.
I'm not sure coming out of retirement is the right thing for him to do though because there's nothing left for him to prove and he tired really easily against Baldomir. Hopefully that was just a case of him being in with a bigger man though and when he comes back he's back to his usual self.
A fight with Witter would make sense for both fighters IMHO. It would give Witter the exposure that he thinks he deserves and it would give Gatti a chance to win his old belt back. I doubt the fight would happen though.
Witter will keep calling Hatton out for the next 18 months trying to make out that Ricky is avoiding him. To the casual boxing fan it would look like Hatton is dodging Witter but as we all know the only time Witter calls out Ricky is when both have already agreed to fight other people. He never calls Hatton out when they've both got a free schedule.

It seems Mayweather wants a bit of Hatton after the De La Hoya fight. He says that Hatton is fat and too slow for him. He says he wants to show Hatton that he is not in his class
American great Floyd Mayweather has dismissed unbeaten Englishman Ricky Hatton, an IBF champion, as a fat man with a beer gut.
Hatton, who last month regained the IBF light welterweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision over Colombia's Juan Urango, is eager to fight against Mayweather.
The American, who was expected to retire after facing Oscar De La Hoya in May, has now hinted that he could delay his retirement to fight Hatton in England.
"Ricky Hatton ain't nothing but a fat man. I'm going to punch him in his beer belly," Mayweather told BBC Sport.
"He ain't good enough to be my sparring partner. I'm retiring in America, that don't mean I'm retiring in the UK."
The 29-year-old later back-tracked on the possibility of fighting Hatton, but it is clear that England's two-weight world champion remains an irritant to him.
The man from Michigan is unbeaten in 37 fights, a former world champion in four weight divisions and arguably the best fighter, pound-for-pound, in the world.
"When I retire, I'll get Ricky Hatton to wash my clothes and cut my lawn and buckle my shoes," said Mayweather, adding that he had been unimpressed by what he had seen of Hatton's fight against Urango.
"I've seen Ricky Hatton fight only once and that was against Urango and he looked like garbage. All he can do is punch and hold, punch and hold and wrestle.
It's obvious that his fights are not more exciting than mine," he told BBC.
Hatton, 28, is unbeaten in 42 fights and is set for a meeting against Mexican veteran Jose Luis Castillo in June. If he can come through that encounter unscathed and Mayweather defeats De La Hoya, demand for a fight between the two later in the year could mount.

Oh I know Mayweather has being making noises about Hatton, I really do think that he wants to not only beat Hatton, but to put on a show whilst doing so.
I was musing as to who Mosley may be eyeing up as a potential future clash.

The Gatti/Ward fights were amazing. There was a crazy amount of heart on show during those bouts.
I just cannot see Witter wanting Gatti, mainly because Gatti will come to fight, and I question Witter's courage, he strikes me as a bully type fighter, the type that only wants to fight when the odds favour him strongly.
Witter vs Hatton will never happen, not unless Hatton agrees to fight with his hands tied, and even then I reckon Witter would find an excuse not to get into the ring. Witter is a trash talking fool, and nothing more. If I want trash talk from a fighter, then I want it from one such as James Toney. A guy who can back up his mouth whilst spouting some of the best smack downs.
