What a game of football. More goals and it'd have been a bona-fide classic!!

Awesome tempo, consistent for 120 mins. Any kid learning the game could pick an awful lot up from that game... pressing, one touch control - one touch passing, commitment, it had it all.

Anyone who reckons we are a better team than Arsenal are deluding themselves. They are just lacking a little steel at the back, give them that and they'll easily contend for the title next year. N'mind getting into that...

What a gem of a match. :jizz:

So far from the truth. :handshake:

They could win the league next season... We will not.

I'd love us to be able to play football like Arsenal, but alas i've made my peace with the fact we will not... Not anytime soon anyhoo. :(

We will have better players at our weak positions next season. We can win the league next season. Add Alves and Villa for example to our team and we are as good as any other team in the world.

Insua? what makes you think he will make it, have you seen anything of him? How are you making this up, Richards, Alves and Villa:rolleyes:

We finished comfortably ahead of them in the league last season. In one off games Arsenal might get the better of us, but over a season, in the grand scheme of things, I would say we are a bit better than them. I think we will finish ahead of them again this season, and I think we will be bigger contenders for the league next season than they will.

As an aside, I thought the camera angle at the Reebok was really good.

Incidentally is there an award for "Uninteresting Observation of the Week"? :D

What is a 'kurt angle'...? Is it cause he put the cybosch on the DIC takeover?

So what if they play pretty football? They lose more games than we do. Last season's table (15 points behind us, was it?) and this season's says everything we need to know.

What's that... if they win their game in hand they will be in third.

They have more strength in depth than any PL side.

It is however an interesting question as to wether it will be easier for us or them to improve enough to challenge for the league next season. They certainly have the players to break down any defence and a pattern of play in which they have at least two teams worth of players capable of playing in. They lack a dynamic midfielder to move the ball from deep to the forwards - someone to play Lampard to Gilbertos Makelele - but it is hard to see how you could drop Fabregas he is a genuinely great player, maybe he will learn to play a little deeper.

Although a few of their young players look like with a bit more experience they may be able to perform that role, Diaby and Denilson looked like exceptional talents last night. We don't have anything like the strength in depth of squad or anyone coming through who looks capable of stepping into our problem positions of wingers, left back (despite AFII's claims) or clinical finisher. However we do have investment and I really think that our defence is truly comparable to any as a unit. I really think with two creative (preferably wide) players we would be challenging for the league this season let alone next. Our problem has been having possession but not carving out chances. I trust Rafa to sort that out now we have the money to compete for his first choice signings.

Our team/squad is also more tactically flexible which I think could be very important over a season, in terms of dealing with both injuries and opposition ploys.

Ifs, buts and maybes. Not interested in them. We are above them in the table, have been for months, and finished way ahead of them last year. It’s clear. :crackoff:

Depends on how you mesure it really, Everton beat and drew us in our two games, does that make them better than us? Were Bolton a better team than Arsenal until last night as they had the better record over the last two seasons?

I think it is perfectly valid to use results against all teams as a bench mark as opposed to head to head encounters.

That said there are definitely things we should aim to learn from Arsenal.

tis true what you say but I still think we will surpass them next season, this season they have been playing much better than us to be honest
