Many people will be unaware of this utter football legend - I rank him as the finest man in the game!! Unlike an Abramovic suggar daddy this guy (last count) is a sharing his est 100m fortune to 70+ non-league clubs, whilst being chairman of lowly Gretna (population 2,000).

For me no one in football comes close to the admiration i have for this man.

Brooks Mileson, whilst we were lifting our FA cup last season, was on the pitch applauding both players and fans alike after their slender loss on penalties to Hearts in the SFA cup. Fans, he spent the whole game amongst waving his scarf aloft and chanting like one of them - what do i mean he IS one of them. In fact he was directly responsible for them all being there - both in terms of actually funding Gretna, and by manning almost singlehandedly the phone lines, running free buses to the game, and offering free tickets to local school kids!!!

I met him quite recently and was utterly humbled. Was like coming across a really friendly bloke in a local/steet - no aires and graces at all, a real man of the people!

His latest act of altruism is to offer Dundee (a club in competition with his club this year) money to overthrow the incumbent hierarchy, and return the club to the fans!

A true legend of the game - thanks for reading.

While writing that i felt that it was the single most important post i'd ever write on here.

How f##ing sad is that. Seriously though, you're so right.

No, this isn't some posthumous RIP thread - this man is a living legend. Sorry if it read like that!

If Carlsberg made football chairmen... they'd make Brooks Milesons.

Ah ok.

I'd read last week that he was in hospital with heart problems.

Agreed though he does appear to be a top fella.

I saw him a few times on Offside with Tam Cowan and he came across as a genuine fan of football.
