View Full Version : Confessions of a Economic Hitman
“Economic hit men (EHMs),” John Perkins wrote in Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, “are highly paid professionals who cheat countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars. Their tools include fraudulent financial reports, rigged elections, payoffs, extortion, sex, and murder. They play a game as old as empire, but one that has taken on new and terrifying dimensions during this time of globalization.”
John Perkins exposed this shocking secret world in Confessions, his first-person account of his own life as an EHM, but that was just the tip of the iceberg. Here, other economic hit men, journalists, and investigators join Perkins to reveal many more deeply disturbing stories of greed and international corruption. In gripping detail, they describe the schemes and subterfuges that multinational corporations, governments, powerful individuals, financial institutions, and quasi-governmental agencies use to line their pockets behind the façade of “foreign aid” and “international development.”

I like Chavez's fortitude in doing what he thinks is right for his people. It is good to fight against the neo-cons and their particular implementation of globalisation.
I do think Chavez is a little Nieve though, your enemies enemy is not necessarily your friend, and him getting to far into bed with Castro's Cuba and Iran is a slightly uneccesary and ultimately dangerous position to take. He can be socialist and protectionist without becoming hardline, porletariate(sp?) communist or fundamentalist. On the flip side what are trhe US going to do, kill him twice?
