View Full Version : Froch yapping again.

Froch, the man who has beaten nobody at all of genuine quality is back on the trail of Calzaghe again. The highlighted line in the article made me laugh out loud. A big fight in itself? Two nobodies is a big fight? Dennis Inkin is yet another fighter who has been protected and has a padded record just like Froch's.
To put it into perspective, Manfredo and Inkin were both ranked in the 70's until of late, Manfredo somehow got a top ten ranking just before the Calzaghe fight was announced and Inkin jumped at about the same time, without having fought anyone.
The problem with the rankings of fighter is that every belt has it's seperate ranking, so a fighter who is highly ranked by one organisation may not even get into the top twenty of another. And fighters with influential managers can gain rankings without fighting.
I would much prefer to see Calzaghe, Kessler and Berrio, all mix it up to get an undisputed champ at the weight, but politics and bullshitters will make sure that it doesn't happen.
http://www.skysports.com/skysports/article/0,,12-1258861,00.html
Carl Froch has urged the WBO to give him the chance to earn a fight against his domestic rival Joe Calzaghe.
Froch wants the organisation to match him in a final eliminator against Dennis Inkin which would pave the way for a fight against WBO champ Calzaghe if he is victorious.
The unbeaten Nottingham fighter took only two rounds to stop Sergey Tatevosyan in his last bout, and firmly believes he would defeat Calzaghe.
He said: "Fighting me could potentially be the biggest fight in British Boxing history. If Calzaghe was forced to take it, I think he would do.
"If he didn't go through with the fight everyone would know why. If he somehow managed to wriggle out of it, I would personally hand him the four feathers.
"Me versus Inkin would be a big fight in itself and would build up a fight against Calzaghe even more."

Froch talks a good fight but as you say he hasn't been in with anyone remotely word class. How on earth he's managed to get to #2 in the WBC rankings is beyond me. He does carry some power though.

If that ranking baffled you, then the fact that Dennis Inkin has been given the number one contender spot by the WBO should throw you for a loop totally. :haha:

Froch is ranked well enough to warrant a fight with Chicken Joe. I mean if Manfredo can get a shot at his belt via a tv show then surely Froch can.
I just wish Terry Marsh was a better shot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cannot argue with that. Manfredo was a joke opponent, I'm sure casual fans may have been taken in by the hype about him being a genuine threat etc., but all who have followed boxing for any length of time knew it was just a publicity shot for Calzaghe.
As much as I do not rate Froch, he would have given a far better account of himself than Manfredo ever could.

Apparently Frank Warren has made offers to three fighters to fight Calzaghe. Taylor, Kessler and..........Carl Froch!
Froch has apparently turned the offer down according to Frank Warren but then again he did say that David Haye backed out of a fight with Macarinelli but we all know that wasn't true.

You just watch........ Chicken Joe's next opponent will be this no mark Dennis Inkin..........with the promise of a defining/super fight as the next fight.:shake:
And once again - Chicken Joe will bend right over whilst Warren gives it to him big style. How much longer are we gonna have to put up with this fucking charade?:eyebrow:

Have a look at this page. It's the letter that Kessler's agent, Mogens Palle, sent to Frank Warren.

Where is Howard? He will love that letter. :haha:
I would love to see Calzaghe get into a ring with Kessler, but won't hold my breath waiting for it to happen though. Warren will avoid matching his fighter with him at all costs.

Fucking hell! Quality letter.
If it's at all possible - it's made me hate Frank Warren even more now Jaco !! :jaw:
I wonder what Chicken Joe thinks about that? That is providing Warren will allow him to think for himself.:shake:

Is it possible to actually hate Warren even more though? Nothing surprises me from the man anymore.
I think it is a fight that Kessler and Calzaghe should both want. Winner would be the best in the division, no question about it. If both fighter met, and were 100% on top of their game, then I would favour Calzaghe slightly. But if it came down to sheer grit and heart, then Kessler would get my nod.
I don't think Calzaghe himself is too keen to mix it up with Kessler though.
If I look back at the list of names that make up the last ten fights for both men, Kessler has fought the better fighters, or rather the tougher fighters in my opinion. Even his "bum" fights were against durable fighters.

I think what frustrates people a lot about Calzaghe, or at least it frustrates me anyway, is the fact that it is obvious that he has world class ability, and on his day can easily be a top five pound for pounder, but his management keeps lining up bums and selling the fights as genuine class fights, which a lot of his fights have not been.
Calzaghe, like a lot of top fighters, has a habit of coming down to the level of his opponents at times, which does him no favours either.
I think a focused Calzaghe would badly expose Froch, and the only fighter in the weight division that I would give a chance of winning against that Calzaghe would be Kessler.
I would love to see Calzaghe calling out Kessler and Berrio.I would love to hear him state over and over that he wants to fight one of them and then get his management on their cases to get one of them to sign to fight him. In fact I would nearly prefer to see him go after Berrio first and take his belt, then bring two belts to the table against Kessler and have a unification fight.

Was a good trip, Vegas again did it's rep as a venue for the big fights proud. The result was the right one, I had Floyd winning by two clear rounds at the end.
Forgot how much I love being at a mega fight.
Mayweather had deceptive power. Oscar gave a few yelps/grunts when Mayweather landed to the body. Oscar's tank began to run out of gas from Round six onwards, he was taking in big mouthfulls of air from then onwards and his breathing looked off.
Mayweather looked as though he had a few more rounds left in him, and always gave the impression, to me anyway, that he never got to top gear, but had it in reserve if needed.
I hope that Hatton does not get into the ring with either. Oscar would be too strong and too fast for Hatton, and Mayweather would school him. (assuming that Floyd doesn't stay retired)

Was under the impression myself that De La Hoya was hurt more than Mayweather in that fight.
I agree with all the above pretty much, Hatton needs to concentrate on the light welter division.

Not all of them were in Vegas, but some of what I have been at include Tyson -Holyfield, Tyson- Ruddock 1, Holyfield- Bowe 2 +3, Lewis vs Holyfield/Tyson/Ruddock/Morrison. Barerra vs Morales/Tapia/Hamed. De La Hoya vs Chavez/Hopkins/Whitaker/Trinidad. Tapia vs Romero/Ayala. Corralles-Castillo 1. Have been to a lot of other fights if I took the time to list them, and loads of fights with UK and European based fighters.

Got introduced to a lot of people, obviously they had no fucking idea who I was, but it was cool to meet some of them. Had a great chat with some of the fighters who were there, Andy introduced me to a lot of them. Shook hands and said hi to Corralles, plus he was at the after fight party along with a serious amount of names plus this Irish nobody:haha: Weird to think he was dead 48 hours later.
