Big Fat Sam to quit Bolton?

BIG SAM IS READY TO QUIT
    By Alan Nixon 28/04/2007
SAM ALLARDYCE is considering his future as Bolton Wanderers boss - and may quit at the end of the season.

Allardyce has told some of his closest friends in the game that the time could be right to move on after taking Wanderers as far as he can.

The highly-rated manager is still plotting his side's bid for a UEFA Cup slot next season but there is a strong chance that this would be his swansong.

News of Allardyce's unrest has spread throughout football for the past few days - and sparked talk of him becoming a future England boss or even a target for Manchester City and Newcastle United.

    Destined for the Geordies IMHO.

As much as I can't stand the man, he'd have made a better England manager than McClaren and I said as much at the time.

I agree, he's probably destined for Newcastle. Can't see why he'd go to Citeh.

He's done a good job there, and deserves a big job

For me who will take him on in the big clubs, plus who is out there that can currently offer him anything better then Bolton does......??

I think he's a shoe-in for the Newcastle job. Bye bye Glenn. I also think he could turn them into a force. They have the fan base, the stadium, the money and the guts of a top side. They've just never really had the right manager but Sam would be the man to utilise all their potential and with his eye for a top bargain etc, it might not be long before they're challenging for the CL again or even the title.

I think that the Newcastle job will involve major rebuilding work. Particularly on the defence. They don't have the money to challenge for a CL spot IMO and even to do well in the UEFA will take a lot of work on the depth of their squad. If I was the Newcastle chairman I would give Roeder another year. I think stability would be good for the club.

For Sam to get a big club he hs to show a/ he can handle big players and b/ he can compete in europe. I think his best chance would be to get a job abroad to do both. Particularly in one of the weaker leagues like Portugal or France where he might more easily get a team into the CL. It would be a big gamble for him though. He didn't seem like the sort to bring in innovative new coaching techniques though and he did so maybe its not as fanciful as it sounds. I guess he might try to get Sami Lee to go with him and use his ability to speak Spanish to get a job there.

This story has come out at this time in the season before. There are very few opportunities aht are suitable that come up and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was still at Bolton in two seasons time.

I don't like him but you can't argue with what he's done at Bolton. He deserves a shot at a bigger club.

                      Allardyce resigns as Bolton boss

Sam Allardyce has resigned as manager of Bolton with immediate effect.

Allardyce has been linked with the manager's role at Manchester City and refused to attend the press conference after Saturday's 2-2 with Chelsea.

He said: "This has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever made but it's time for a new exciting era for Bolton under different leadership."

Chairman Phil Gartside added: "I have reluctantly accepted the decision. His reasons are private, we respect that."

                        Shocking news.

I hope Sammy Lee will get the chance in the seat now. I might like Bolton better because of that.

hahahaha, he was after the citeh job when his good pal Ray Ranson was just about to put pen to paper, and had let it be known the job was as good as his and was leaving Bolton.

That Thai Thaksin has now got involved, and offered more money, and big fat sam had burned his bridges, couldn't very well stay yet is not sure of a job now!

God knows how Pearce feels about all this.

Wonder who tapped him up, Ranson or someone else ?
I think he'll end up at Newcastle. Roeder is not fit enough to manage the Geordies. Fat Sam will go there and reignite the club.
Good manager but not a great one.
