Just been hearing on Sky from the takeover adviser about Randy Lerner who will be taking over at Aston Villa. He just said that one of the three teams he followed because of their success was Aston Villa, the other two were Manchester United and Arsenal.

Now I'm just trying to work out just exactly when those three clubs were the most successful clubs in the country.

Why don't these guys just come out and be honest and say that its a good investment that should be profitable should the board run the club properly.

I hate it when these people bullshit the fans. Who are they kidding.

When did Aston Villa win the European Cup? 1982?!?

He obviously has been watching Greavsies' Best of the Eighties videotapes.... :)

At least they did - unlike Arsenal.

And come one, Aston Villa is a club with a big history. The Villans don't feel bullshitted by Lerner at all btw. - they are over the moon.

(And yes, before you ask, I have a soft spot for them.)

The villa fans would of been over the moon if the devil himself took over the club, they hated doug ellis that much(believe me I know, I had to live with a few brummies in uni).

With Martin O'Neil and Lerner, Villa will be a force to be reckoned with in the next couple of years. My wife's a Villa fan, she is happier about Ellis going than anything. When O'Neil joined them, her attitude was - there's no point unless Ellis goes.

Oh yes, I know, but Lerner seems a decent new owner and they preferred him to the other three consortia that were interested in buying the club.

Villa have a big stadium and a big fan base. However unless this randy bloke is prepared to spend like Abramovichit will take a few years to reverse the rot.

Is it just me, but doesn't "Randy Lerner" sound a bit like a porn star name?

Read a quote from Big Ron about Doug Ellis today:

"I get asked a lot why so many people take an instant dislike to Doug Ellis. My answer is that it saves time.

He was in the UK in the early 80's and probably watched Villa win the European cUP.

I'd rather use one his very old quotes than one of his most recent.

"He respects tradition, he's not a showboater, he's fan and player-friendly and has a lot of money - I don't know what more you could ask for in an owner."

Learning about Lerner (BBC) (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/aston_villa/4790967.stm)

It could be, but I think there would be more mileage in a porn movie by the same name.

Note this is gay porn, all Villa fans are gay why else would they support a team with pink shirts.

Synopsis

A naive American football chairman invites his manager Martin O'Kneel in to his office. O'Kneel starts talking football tactics to the chairman whos eyes gloss over as the Ulsterman talks shit in that irritating high pitched voice of his. O'Kneel then decides to give the Yank a blow job, just why I'm not sure it's a porn movie FFS.
