I thought he'd gone ages ago. Don't rate him at all.
    I live with Steptoe.

He went on loan to Southampton last season and hardly impressed there.

Decent player - tidy in posession, but I don't see what extra he can bring to a side? Isn't physical, doesn't have a terrific engine or tackle, hasn't got an eye for goal..... Not that he's a bad player, just you need something extra to make it in the EPL and more importantly LFC.

          Good luck to him though.

I don see the point in a loan deal for nim. Wasn he at southampton last season, without impressing? The only one I can remember turning their LFC career around on loan was warnock. Potters best position is CM, and he allready behind SG, Momo, Xabi and Bolo, so it makes sense to let him go. Isn Peltier a CM as well?
I don know how long Potter has left on his contract, but that might play a part in decition to loan him out insteadof selling him. Or it couldbe that Rafa still thiks he can be good enough for LFC, after all he payed 10+ matches last season before getting injured.

to be fair, david thompson was a far better player than darren potter. I think if a personality clash with houllier hadnt appeared, and injuries hadnt of took there toll he would have had an excellent liverpool career.

                  Yeah I agree mate.
If im honest, there was a time I was actually more excited by Thompson than was of Gerrard, when they both broker into the first team around the same time. Think it was a sending off or two, resulting in a run in with GH that sealed his exit.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                  * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I think David Thompson has admitted that he took the piss and deserved to be moved on.... David Thompson has (at least) got an eye for a goal which is more than what Potter has. He'll never be more than a tidy player, probably performing consistantly for a decent Championship team.

I suspect that he has been loaned out as noone is prepared to buy him and at least this way we aren't paying his wages and he is in the shop window. Do we have any good CM's in the reserves?

Personality clashes, Houllier, injuries, blablahblah... He was just NOT good enough. As he's proven everywhere he's gone.

Tad harsh. I don't think he was quite good enough for us but he's a decent player and I reckon he's demonstrated that. He was excellent for Blackburn...even got an England call-up before injuries ruined his Rovers career. Since then he's struggled like, but he did well at Ewood Park. I do think injuries is a valid excuse for him - he's been very unlucky.
