Bill Hicks would get my vote. The guy was an absolute legend.

Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan and Peter Cook would not be far behind.

Monty Python personnel would win funniest group.

Stand-ups whose live videos have made me laugh to a near life-threatening degree:

Steve Martin
Eddie Murphy (the first one - "Ma shoe!", not the homophobic one)
Eddie Izzard

Tommy Cooper and Eric Morecambe are two of Britain's all-time funniest.

Amazed that no one has said George Carlin yet. The man is a legend, and doesn't get the credit he deserves this side of the Atlantic. I have to mention Billy Connolly also.

Cooper was a one off. Crap jokes, and predictable but still funny.

I've never laughed harder than at Billy Connolly, when they let me watch TV.

Stand by Hicks but have just finished watching Al Murray's latest and its piss yourself funny. The Steve Martin McDonalds story is a modern classic, from a time before he started making shit film after shit film and I'm quite partial to Dylan Moran as well. Anyone mentioned Belushi or Ackroyd yet?
