Taken from Sky sports, , it´s an amazing deal for Arsenal if true :jaw:
Barcelona have offered Samuel Eto'o to Arsenal as a makeweight for Thierry Henry, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish daily Marca claims Barca are ready to part with the Cameroonian striker plus €25million (£17million) in order to bring Henry to Camp Nou.
The report says negotiations between Barca sport director Txiki Beguiristain and his Arsenal counterparts are already well advanced.
It also says the deal has met with approval from Arsene Wenger and the two players.
Eto'o's future has been the subject of speculation for some time and he has expressed a liking for the English game.
Henry has continued to be linked with Barca following Arsenal's disappointing season, even though he signed a long-term deal with The Gunners last summer.
Wenger guaranteed that his talismanic captain would not be sold earlier this month, while Henry has assured fans previously that his future remains in London.
Barcelona have yet to confirm whether there is any substance in the report, while Eto'o is currently away on international duty with Cameroon and has not commented.

Been looking at marca couldnt see it, on about madrid.
AS on about Kaka
"the Cameroonian striker plus €25million (£17million) in order to bring Henry to Camp Nou"
Bonkers
That sounds a ridiculous deal, the equation is totally flawed
Eto'o + £17m = Henry
No Chance!
So Arsenal would receive £17m PLUS Eto'o??????? That would be an incredible deal. :shake:

Henry and €17M for Eto'o maybe not the other way around.
It just can't possibly be true. Given their respective ages and level of ability, you'd have to value them both in roughly the same bracket - if not Eto'o as being more expensive. Must be total bollocks.
The figures could be wrong but the jist of the report could be true.
But I think if we can come up with a straight cash deal, which in turn could tempt Barca to do a straight deal with Arsenal, isn't as tempting as a swap between both clubs.

I think that's a great deal for Barca and for us. Eto'o is good but he's no TH. Him and Adeboyor up front, you'd want to watch yourselves in the stands, balls flying everywhere!! I'd gladly see us playing arsenal everyweek with Eto'o in the team. I can't watch when TH is playing, has me terrified! IMHO opinion a lot better than Eto'o. Happy to see him on the telly in Spain.

Yeah but Wenger is the master at getting top dollar for players like Overmars and Petit from Barcelona! :haha:
It'll be the other way around, especially given the season Henry has just had.

indeed it would, surely it'd be the other way round for Eto'o

I've just had a look on marca.com and it does appear that Sky have got it the wrong way around. My Spanish isn't great but I think it says £17m plus Henry for Eto'o

That would make sense, although personally I'd still reckon that was a bit imbalanced. Henry plus £10m would be about right, with the £10m only allowing for the discrepancy in age.

Yeah, still there could be some substance in a trade

This one sounds very very wrong though.
Henry is how old? isnt he 30/31 or something and Eto'o about 26/27?
Henry has had some injuries of late too, one that has been at him for a while, gone and then came back again.
IF anything, Arsenal should be handing over Henry plus cash for Eto'o

Yes. I bet there are rumours all over the web of Eto'o going to Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and everywhere else. We just happen to notice the Liverpool ones mainly then accuse other clubs of poaching our transfer targets when they end up going elsewhere.

Add to that, there are articles in the paper saying Inter are starting £15m bidding war for Henry. Yet Barca are will to pay that plus Eto'o in exchange :rash:

That is either bullshit or the worst deal in the history of the game.
If Henry is worth £17m + Eto'o we should offer Bellers as a straight swap.
Hmmm, £17m plus Henry sounds like a lot - it seems Barca are pricing Eto'o out of our market at least, if we are genuinely interested in him that is. In a straight cash deal they'd probably want £25-£30m for him. Personally I'd pay that for him. The difficulty might be if Barca start asking for a player + cash deal involving Alonso.
If Eto'o is in the least bit interested in coming to the Premiership, we must be at the head of the queue.

Why? Maybe he wants to live in London. After all, you seem to like it there. :D

Not a chance
..it is sort of liverpool related ... pls move if necessary..
will be gutted if this goes through
Arsenal are ready to let Thierry Henry quit Arsenal, with Barcelona set to offer £17m, plus Samuel Eto'o, for the France striker. (Daily Star)
why would anyone really go to arsenal without henry being there :handshake:
£17 million + Eto'o (valued at £30 million) for Henry.
Henry is good but to value him at £47 million is bull.
Its more likely to be Arsenal have offered Henry and £17 million for Eto'o.

I thought on the other thread it was agreed the figures were the other way round, i.e Henry + 17mil for Eto'o?
Either way it doesn't really make the Arse any stronger, especially as rumour is Fabragas is being sold to raise funds, looks like they're pretty skint.

If true it'll be a summer of dissapointment for me
Didn't we have this conversation yesterday?
they are only both in the news to raise their profiles a little bit more before they both join us

:handshake: Henry offers more to Arsenal with his allround game than Eto'o ever could, they may be getting a high calibre striker if the deal goes through, but Arsenal with Henry is far more potent than Arsenal with Eto'o, who will be expected to carrry the team.
