He got six years and has almost served half which is pretty standard time for parole. Not saying this is long enough or not but all he can do is serve the sentence he was given like everyone else
Was he under the influence of drink or drugs? I though he was only jailed for dangerous driving.
BBC reports that he ran away from the scene of the crash - allegedly to avoid detection of his intoxication, but obviously that is speculation.
I agree with the consesus that having served the time layed own for him then he should be free to play. It is the length of the sentence I would query if the circumstances were as they are described in the article.

He was jailed for dangerous driving. He also fled the scene and didn't hand himself in for 36 hours. Make your own mind up if he was on drink and/or drugs.
They couldn't prove he was drunk but he admitted that he had drank something like 2 beers and one shot or something like that.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

He was bailed until a date in late January, pending further inquiries.
