KOEMAN CITY LINK
By Alan Nixon 09/06/2007

RONALD KOEMAN made a shock visit to Manchester yesterday - to spark a betting frenzy on the City vacancy.

Dutch legend Koeman stayed in the plush Lowry Hotel during his top-secret stay while hundreds of pounds were placed on him becoming Stuart Pearce's successor.

The bookies even made the PSV Eindhoven chief the new favourite for the post as rumours spread like wildfire that he was about to be appointed.

However, City officials denied any move last night and said: "Koeman may have been in Manchester, but he is definitely not talking to us."

Koeman had been on City's hit-list a month ago until he opted to stay in Holland.

But he does have an interest in moving to the Premiership after being heavily linked with the Fulham manager's job.

But City insiders insist that Koeman is not on their shortlist anymore, while the club also extend the deadline for Thai billionaire Thaksin Shinawatra to close a deal to takeover the crisis outfit. He now has until Monday to come up with the cash and the answers.

The City hot-seat could still be filled by a top foreign coach, with Sevilla's Juande Ramos and another Dutchman, Co Adriaanse, definitely in the frame.

Yesterday a lad in work put £10 on Koeman being named citeh boss. His mate actually saw koeman leaving Eastlands yesterday and rang him up and told him so he ran out and put the bet on.

luckily i put a bet on a few weeks ago when he was about 20/1 - but its pure speculation he will take the job at moment so not getting to excited just yet

i put a tenner on at 64/1 once i read michael's post. he's now trading at 9.4

that means i could actually trade out now for a guaranteed £56 whether he takes the job or not.

wondering what to do, but think i'll stick with it. after all, i'll get £640 if he takes it.

seems worth hanging onto as the worst that'll happen is that i'll lose a tenner.

I would of thought he was a shoe in for the Barca job if Frankie Rij was to leave.
