F.C.U.K.I.N.G. S.A.V.A.G.E.

Now, that is how poker should be played. Of course, in normal circumstances, not with those kind of stakes but the play was great.

That move of checking after the river was brilliant, works a treat.

How the hell did both them stay so calm through the hand with that much in the pot, even though they both had great hands
And Negreanu barely flinched when he lost. 300k down the swanny, but he just shrugged

I'm surprised after predicting what Gus had that he called.

As the commentator said - he must have a hand.

Presumably they're all multi-millionaires and in reality 300K is a reasonably small % of their money.

Not necessarily. He predicted pretty much all the possibles that Gus might have. Obviously worst case was pocket pair of 5, 8, 9.
Just coz he predicted didn't mean he thought he was throwing his money away. He still thought he had the nuts.
He had put in around 100k before Gus went all in, so even with that he had a chance to walk away if he didn't think he had the nuts.
But it's damned hard to throw away a full house.
I think I read that it's the largest recorded hand in poker history

He was hoping that He was playing against the straight..Although i'd say , at that point, he was fearing the worst.

I realise what he was hoping, but he was betting 160K-ish to win 600K on him either bluffing, or having the straight (or possibly 5-6?!). Not good odds IMO.

He seemed to work out he was beaten and then bet anyway.

(PS, I don't think I'd have folded.... but I don't think I'd have predicted his hand as well as Negreanu did)

Yes he could!

Possibly the most unpredictable and aggressive player out there. Hence why Negreanu probably called.

It's very tough to throw away a good hand(full house, was it?) after betting so much money, if only to see what the hell the other player actually had!!
