    YOU'RE NEXT FABREGAS
EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal ace wanted in Spain
By Martin Lipton, Chief Football Writer 26/06/2007

REAL MADRID and Barcelona are ready to exploit Arsenal turmoil by making a move for Cesc Fabregas.

As former Gunners captain Thierry Henry was unveiled as a Barca player last night, the Catalan giants were preparing the ground to recapture Fabregas in a £15million swoop.

And with Arsene Wenger's prime target Ryan Babel set to reject a move to the Emirates because of doubts over the manager's long-term commitment to the club, Spanish champions Real will also join a bidding war if they see any sign that Arsenal may listen to offers.

Both Spanish clubs see the sale of Henry, and Wenger's failure to make any public commitment to stay after his contract runs out next summer, as proof that the Gunners are ripe for raiding. And they are poised to test Arsenal's resolve to keep the midfielder whose free signing from Barcelona's youth team four years ago was arguably Wenger's most audacious and successful piece of business.

Fabregas, the remaining jewel in the Emirates crown, is the prized asset Gunners fans would not countenance losing.

The 20-year-old, who signed an eight-year extension to his contract last October, admitted earlier this month that he "dreamed about returning to Barcelona one day".

Fabregas has told friends he wants to stay at Arsenal for one more season, after which he expects Wenger to quit and then he will follow the Frenchman out of the door.

Yet the Arsenal board would be reluctant to agree to any sale in the wake of Henry's exit, fearful of the message it would send out.

The threat to Fabregas comes with Holland Under-21 star Babel on the brink of rejecting a £6m move due to the doubts over the future of Wenger, who is on holiday until next week.

The Frenchman will resist boardroom efforts to persuade him to sign an extension to his current contract.

Imagine we'ed just sold Gerrard and now the wolves (not Wolverhampton o'cause) wanted another big fish from us.
    But it ain't us!

    Hmmm....Suddenly Barca also want him.

They signed Toure and want De Rossi, both Arsenal targets, they signed Henry and want Fabregas, two Arsenal players.

I think I will make a bet that Wenger will join Barca after next season.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

      eight-year extension to his contract
That is a long contract. He wont leave this year - he will next as I can't see Wenger signing a new contract.

        It could get worse!

My friend who is a Sky journalist has just told me that there's a certain ex-Arsenal defender being spoken to with a view to taking over from Wenger very very soon.

He doesn't normally say many things and the very few things he has have been accurate...
The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions to me; the distinction is yours to draw...

It would make sense for Wenger to go now if he will not committ. A club cant move on and are in limbo effectively, waiting for the manager to leave. They can't plan, struggle recruiting etc as players want stability and thats one thing you dont have when your manager is winding down his contract. Its better for all if he left now, from their perspective, I'd have thought. As for the x-player - who? Adams - surely not he isn't proven and that would be asking for a sharp slap in the face if you're an Arse fan used to winning. Who else is there other than the obvious Winterburn's, Dixons etc.........

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

We should test them out with a cheeky bid for Eboue and Van Persie.

everyone expects arsenal to crumble next season because henrys left but sometimes these things can bond a team and they may surprise a few.
