Liverpool have rewarded five of their successful FA Youth Cup side with new deals.

Craig Lindfield, Jay Spearing, Ryan Flynn, Stephen Darby and Robbie Threlfall have all signed contracts to keep them at Anfield until 2010.

The five players played a key part in Liverpool's final success over Manchester United last season.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez was delighted to tie down the talented youngsters to new long-term deals.

"It is great news these five boys have signed new contracts with the club," said Benitez.

"They've got a great opportunity now to prove what they can do. They need to keep learning, work hard and show what they are capable of."

I agree, plus the upside is, if they are not quite good enough for us we can sell them and make some money rather than them walking away for free
