Maybe I'm being overly optimistic but I have a theory.

We have **** loads of money but we have to keep it quiet or the market will go even madder.

Raffa is deliberately muddying the waters by sending out veiled threats about lack of funds and not getting top players. Lots of people on this forum are saying that the budget is just about exhausted.

My thinking is that this a smokescreen and we will continue to spend,spend,spend.

Expect the following very soon-Tevez, Malouda, Mancini and Heinze.

Or maybe we'll only sign Benayoun!

Mancicni is the only one of those that could happen. Tevez, while great, he doesn't really fill any of the gaps we have. Malouda, he's already sold himself down the river. He doesn't want to play for us enough for Rafa to spend 17m on him. Heinze, can't see it, he'll end up at RM.
