This fella is so annoying! His voice is so high pitched and gets even worse when there's breaking news. He makes it so hard to watch.

Aye, the Jock. I'll always remember him for his laughable part in Sky's coverage of the 'Owen to Newcastle' transfer.

Missed that, I was on a beach in Nice....getting hideously over-excited about 'the final piece of the jigsaw'. :shake:

He's an eejit, though.

Ha ha, that illusive final piece.

Were we ever really that close though? I remember thinking it a few times, Collymore, Ziege, even Kuyt to a certain extent.

WHAT FOOTBALL PRESENTER TOLD POLICE: YOU CAN'T ARREST ME I'M INTERVIEWING JOSE MOURINHO TOMORROW Feb 11 2005

White loses his licence after breath test bust-up

By Kevin Turner

TV presenter Jim White refused a breath test and told police: 'I'm providing f ***** g zero'. The Sky Sports anchorman was fined £750 and banned from driving for a year after a court heard of his astonishing outburst.

And last night, a police source revealed: 'White told officers they couldn't arrest him because he was interviewing Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho the following day.'

The former Scotsport presenter, who is believed to earn £150,000 a year, was stopped by police in his silver BMW in Glasgow's west end last June.

He was arrested and taken to a nearby police station but, once there, he refused to take a breathalyser test.

Yesterday, depute fiscal Adele McDonald told Glasgow District Court: 'The police had reason to stop the accused and to take him to Partick Police Office.

'He refused to provide a specimen, saying, 'I'm providing f ***** g zero.' 'He failed to provide any reasonable excuse for failing to provide the specimens.'

Miss McDonald said 'the police had reason to stop' White as he drove along Church Street in Glasgow.

The presenter's lawyer, Ken Waddell, admitted: 'He did have certain reasons for not providing a sample of breath, but after advice from me he realises these do not amount in law to a reasonable excuse.

'He is aware he will be disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence because of this.

'He has expressed remorse for being here today, as well as for being involved with the police in the first instance.

'My client is employed as a sports presenter and can pay a financial penalty.'

White's pleas of not guilty to driving while unfit through drink or drugs and failing to give a roadside breath test were accepted by the Crown.

Stipendiary Magistrate Robert Hamilton fined White £750 and disqualified him from driving for a year.

The presenter, of Hyndland, Glasgow, looked embarrassed as he left court, but refused to comment.

He currently hosts satellite channel Sky Sports's Scottish football coverage.

White also regularly presents the sports news. Since switching from Scottish Television to Sky, he has shuttled between Glasgow and London, where he has a second home.

In the summer of 2003,White split up from his second wife Avril, whom he married in February 2001.

She had moved out of their plush villa home and rented a flat, claiming White was drinking too much.

A few weeks later she hired a private detective and discovered that her husband had been cheating on her.

Police were called to the house after Avril discovered married mum-of-two Carol Allan, 42, there.

White was said to have often befriended strangers he met on the shuttle back to Scotland and frequently brought pals back to his house to party after the pubs near his home closed.

White's first marriage to Fiona ended in 1995 after 10 years.

It was uncertain last night whether White's court conviction would affect his position at Sky.

Bosses at the satellite broadcaster refused to comment on his situation.

His name's Dave summat. Does the darts now. He really bugs me. Quite Partridge at times.

SSN was originally launched as Sky Sports.com TV. That was it's first name/branding, but they re-launched it not long after as SSN with the different, blue colour scheme.

I hate Jim White. I remember when I was a young lad and he presented Scotsport up in Scotland on a Sunday tea time. Worst highlights show ever!

He's even worse now than he was then but that might be due to the fact that everything on SSN is snsationalised. The channel is basically a tabloid newspaper on TV.

Wifebeater?

Sun 10 Aug 2003

POLICE were called to an incident involving television sports presenter Jim White yesterday.

It is understood the Sky Sports presenter was involved in a "domestic dispute" with his partner at a house in Pollokshields, Glasgow.

A statement from Strathclyde Police said: "We can confirm that police were called to a house in the Pollokshields area of Glasgow. Advice was given to the parties involved and no further action was taken."

White was on air presenting a Sky Sports programme late on Friday and it is understood that he arrived at the Glasgow house yesterday morning.

White, 45, was divorced from his first wife Fiona in 1995. At the time he blamed the pressure of working in television as a major factor in the break-up.

He went on to marry his long-standing friend Avril Hyndman, also 45 and a mother of two, in February 2001.

The couple celebrated their wedding quietly with only a few close friends at Glasgow’s Malmaison Hotel.

In July 1999, White resigned as STV’s sports anchorman to move to Sky after 19 years at the Glasgow-based station.

He currently presents live coverage of the Tennent’s Scottish Cup and Scotland home internationals, and regularly presents Sky Sports News.

White started his media career with Scottish and Universal Newspapers in 1974.

Five years later he moved into television, where he was a news and current affairs reporter with STV before a move to sport in 1986.

The highlight of his career is said to have been in June 2003 when he travelled to Senegal with Arsenal skipper Patrick Vieira for his Diambers charity.
