View Full Version : Vladi goes home
Czech Republic midfielder Vladimir Smicer will return to his homeland next season after agreeing terms with Slavia Prague.
The 34-year-old has signed a one-year deal with an option for a further season at the 1.Liga outfit, who finished second in the Czech top flight last term.
A Champions League winner with Liverpool in 2005, Smicer previously played for Slavia between 1993 and 1996, winning the title in his final season, before sealing a move to French Ligue 1 outfit Lens.
He returns to the Czech capital following a two-year stint with Bordeaux.
Smicer said: "I am returning to the club I have grown up with.
"I want to help Slavia in the Czech league as well as in the Champions League qualification."
Slavia general manager Petr Dolezal added: "We have signed a footballer of world significance.
"It was a priority for our club to welcome Vladimir back to his favourite Czech club."

I love Vladi :)
He's Czech, he's great...etc etc
Shame he didn't get to play for Bordeaux at Anfield last season, would've been nice.

That and him thumping his chest and kissing the Liverbird as Jamie Carragher and Harry Kewell were having a fit calling him back to the centre circle during the shootout.
