Several Premiership clubs want to bring in end-of-season play-offs which could see the club finishing sixth winning the title. (Sunday Express)

Id go for
Bolton
Everton
Tottenham
Newcastle
Blackburn
Man City

Id suggest to them to either go and drop down a division or get better :handshake:

That would never happen IMO. Just pure fantasy from a fucked journo.

Sounds like a load of crap to be honest.

If people want more games in order to make more money then I think the bottom sides in the premiership should be involved in the play offs to see which teams stay up/go down/get promoted with the top teams of the Championship.

I would however like to see play offs between teams that finish level on points at the end of the season (as happens in Italy) with the team that finishes higher on goal difference given the advantage of a home leg second.

I can't see playoffs being introduced in the premiership, I don't think that the top clubs would agree to it.
I don't see why the premier league are worried about one club dominating the league it has always happend to some extent....Liverpool 80's, Scum 90's...Chelski have had there 2 years!!

I think it is not just the domination but the feeling that the end of the season is largely irrelevant. Last season wasn't too bad but sometimes around February you see some of the mid table teams just give up and crowds dwindle. I can see why the owners would want something to keep the season alive, I just think that play offs are a way of making large amounts of the season almost irrelevant to the top rather than middle teams.

It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I'd be embarassed to, say, finish 6th and have a crack at the title. It's not right.

It works very well in a sport like Rugby League but i wouldn't like to see it in the premiership.

only thing i can think of is the new rich owners of clubs, like aston villa, and portsmouth...

playoffs is a bad bad idea, we already have two cup competition, plus europe we don't need any more...

Next the premiership will be split into 4 geographic areas, with the winners of each division progressing and then a few wild card entries during the 'regular' season..... bollocks.

But it could also take things away from the end of the season as say the top 4 or 5 are mainly safe and start to field teams who can just do enough. The awarding of European places should be incentive enough and it generally is, you have teams fighting off relegation then teams going for a european place. There arent many who have nothing to go for from Feb to say Easter.

Worst idea since 'silver/golden' goal.

Who is the journo responsible?

this has the potential to ruen football, have teams concetrating more on europe than the premier league, just a top 6 finish is enough to challenge for the title, if we start changing the game for the sake of tv money, it's over, look at wha happened to the nfl, when they started to create timeouts for comercials...

The top team in the league win not sixth place
