1203: GOAL Arsenal 0-1 Fulham
An absolute howler. Jens Lehmann makes a hash of a clearance from Gael Clichy's back pass and David Healy pounces to score in the first minute of his Fulham career. The worst possible start to the campaign for Arsenal.
1208: Ironic cheers from the away end as Jens Lehmann manages to control a back pass this time and clear. Fulham look lively. Arsenal are stretched and Kolo Toure blocks a David Healy cross from the left.

so far arsenal have played some nice stuff and failed to convert
our old keeper warner is in goal for fulham and so far is having a blinder. he only found out after the warm up was playing as niemi crocked himself 10 minutes before kick off
fulham have had a few moments as well-healy has looked lively and held it up well
i can't help feeling that the gooners will get back into this one

It's a guarantee they'll get a penalty today.Other teams complain about it, ex referees complain about it, but those in the game turn a blind eye to it. It's been the same for years. Remember when AF used to compain Rooney was victimised when he joined them? Well it seems to have worked as he can pretty much walk on water these days.

Just a thought, and try not to be biased, who would you rather have and why: Nani or Babel?
I think Nani is a better winger, but Babel may be a better goalscoring midfielder. Dont know whose better with the ball at their feet etc.

Styles was a fucking disgrace there. That freekick in the 94th minute was a joke, not even touched (new diving **** in Nani incidentally), if the league had any balls they'd sack him for that alone, nevermind the rest of the match.

Given that 2 of the top 4 had to come from behind AT HOME to win and Utd have been held at home, puts our result at Villa into perspective. Good weekend all round - just a shame Fulham and Brum just couldn't hold on.

Rooney suffers broken left foot
Wayne Rooney lasted only 45 minutes of the new Premier League season after injuring his foot in Manchester United's goalless draw with Reading.
Reading defender Michael Duberry accidentally landed on the England striker's foot in the 37th minute and was quickly sent for a scan.
And it has been revealed that the 21-year-old has suffered a hairline fracture of his left foot.
The news will rock United, who are short of experienced centre-forwards.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was forced to deploy defender John O'Shea as a makeshift striker after Rooney failed to make it out for the second half.
Ferguson said after the game: "It was a painful blow and Wayne could not really stand on his foot. I do not think it is as serious an injury as when he broke his metatarsal.
"But his foot did start to swell and it was not worth starting him in the second half."
England manager Steve McClaren will also be concerned about the injury, with a friendly against Germany pencilled in for 22 August but, more crucially, two Euro 2008 qualifiers scheduled against Israel and Russia in September.

Rooney is as injury prone as most of the players that starts to play to many to games to early at the highest level. The body can't cope with that.
Owen and Fowler is two examples of that. Messi is another and Walcott has already had a bad injury.
Players under 20 should only play 20-25 games/season and not 40+ like they do now.

No way did he deserve the red. Some referees don't know the game and know the rules in simple black and white.
Nearly every game, someone will go for a ball which is bouncing in mid air and Kitson was just a second late and the referee who probably hasn't played the game, gave the red. Poor decision

Messi isn't a centre forward. He is a left sided striker.

:haha: Think you're missing the point here ronan. Kitson wasnt CHOOSING where to catch Evra, he wasnt even deliberately catching him, he was trying to block the ball. However, it was only the fact that evra's foot was off the ground, that mean he got caught around the ankle area, rather than the shin or calf area. Had his foot been on the ground, he would've probably broken his leg.
Definite red, reckless and dangerous challenge.

whatever about potential ,at this moment he is not better than any of those players.
i think he's better than crespo yes with crespo not being the same player he was 3-7 years ago, and i think he's on par with messi, for some reason i don't like messi all that much, he's a cracking player but i can't stand him, the little primadona, i also thinl messi has a long way to go befoe reaching his potential, he's nowhere consistent enough, he has cracking games and then he has games where he's shit and won't pass the ball, and keeps going at it by him self, and this will in the future create massive friction with in his team. i don't think tevez has the same natural ability to beat a player as messi, but he's allot stronger and scores more goals, i think tevez' right foot is better than messi's left, i think they are on par when you look at what they bring to their team...
as for rooney, i think you english massively overrate him. he proved to me last season something that i have always thought that he will never become one of the best strikers in the world.i think he's a good player, but i think for example torres is better, for me rooney hasn't lived up to what he was hyped up to be good player and all but no 30 mill for me. i think right now tevez is better, and if you give him a couple of years in that squad he will become light years ahead of him. rooney also needs to loose a few pounds, his weight will start to affect his pace. i think tevez is able to be the best in the world, i don't know if that will be as good as henry a few years ago, but i think he will rival eto'o, kaka, messi and ronaldinho in being the best in the world in the years to come...
thats all well and good diego but you said he is the best in the world now.
how can you say a player who has only played for 6 months in a league of any standard and scored just 7 goals in 27 appearances is the best player in the world?
lets have this arguement again in 12 months time.
ps im not english.
Rooney is also very injury prone and Tevez is more or less never injured, that is also one thing you need to count.
If Rooney gets one or two injuries like the ones he got then he won't be that much better than he already is.
Injuries plays a big part to if a player can reach his full potential or not.

Tevez dominated in the Brazilian and Argentinian leagues and he dominated in the PL as soon as he was moved to play in his best position, centre forward.
Pelé only played in Brazil and the US leagues but he is considered to be the best ever player together with Maradona. He was a great player but we really don't know if he would have been a success in Europe. That is one example that shows that you can be a great player even if you don't play in Europe.

and btw 7 goals in 26 starts is dominating the premiership?
bollocks of the highest order!
It took time for Tevez to settle, but to be fair to the lad, once he settled in England he was dynamite.
It may take time for Torres and Babel to settle and that is why we need to be patient.
so if torres or babel score 7 goals this year they will be the best?

Well if they score 7 out of 10 games, be man of the match for the last 15 games and virtually win the Championship on their own, probably yes.
how on earth does this add up to the best player in the world??????????

He played on the wing in more than half of that games. How on earth anyone can even think to play Tevez on the wing is :rash:
Even more :rash: than some of Houlliers lineups. It's almost like you start to think that the manager want to make a joke of himself.
West Ham stayed up only because of two players Green was fantastic in goal and Tevez dominated upfront, not because they played any better than earlier in the season. They started to play Tevez as a centre forward and that changed everything.
To be fair when I saw Tevez early in the season he wasn't so much left wing as a left sided forward - in a similar position that Rooney has been given at United in the past, and usually under-performed in. The difference was that Bobby Zamora is frankly no Cristiano Ronaldo and the rest of the West Ham attack/midfield were terrible.
I also think that while Tevez was definitely the catalyst for the West Ham revival their midfield started looking less completely useless towards the end of the season.
I think though that it is fair to say that Tevez performances marked him out as a genuinely outstanding talent. No sure he can say he is the best forward in the world but he certainly is in an elite group of players capable of claiming that title in the future.
