We want two class options for each position, which we pretty much have for every position except right back. Yes there are players capable of filling in there, such as Carra, Gerrard, Momo and Peltier but none of those are anything like realistic.

I'm guessing it'll be Neill but dreaming it might be Alves.

Realistically we'll get no-one, as it's so late in the day, but we really do need another right back now.

I'd be concerned if Finnan got injured/suspended and we have no replacement until January. We've sold Kromkamp and Barragan, surely we need 1 replacement?

Gut feeling is that we're done though.

I think we can cope without another right back for now, Finnan doesn't realy have a history of injuries. But if he does suffer an unavoidable injury spell then I think we can tough it out for up to 4 months especially if it means maybe getting Alves in January I will be happy with that.

I imagine Paletta can do a good job there, or Agger if he isn't allready in the center should anything happen.

Can Neill buy his contract out at any time, and move on as a free agent?

We could then give him a signing on fee equivalent to his contract

Dave's just being saying that Alves has been quoted about staying at Sevilla for another year... hope he's lying & coming to us!!!

Not sure about that, i think he'd have to buy out his contract BEFORE deadline day otherwise he'll be registered to blackburn until January. Same problem for Keane last year I think.

Yeah, under the terms of that new-ish rule where a player of 28 years old or more can buy out the remaining year of his contract provided he only has the one year left...although it's apparently a rather long, drawn out process.

Don't know the specifics of it but I would doubt it, because it would leave the club in a bad position as they wouldn't be able to bring anyone in.
