View Full Version : Owen tearing Hammy
Has anyone got video of Owen tearing his hammy.....the first time he did it. He was flying and just hit the deck, and proceeded to slide along the wet turf.
I think it was against Leeds??

It was at Leeds, aye, at Elland Road. I remember it quite well. Was it the same game as Yeboah's wonder volley?
All downhill from there. :(

nah that was 21st Aug 1995 (my 17th birthday, that fecker Yeboah ruined it for me!)
Have a feeling the Owen injury was April 99, am sure it was right at the end of the season, very sad and poigniant injury, owen was never the same after.

No. The spliffs have made it worse mate. :handshake:
It was against Leeds but sometime after the 1998 world cup.
:o
Yes...my dates are miles out there.
Perhaps it was the game when Riedle scored?

I think it was a 0-0 draw with Steve Gerrard playing fullback to mark Harry Kewell out of the game

It's weird that Shaggy's long-term memory has let him down

That was Paddy Berger that injured his knee in that game. He went over in agony and Viduka carried on past him to make it 4-3.

It's coming back to me. We were 2-0 up and crusing then Ziege made a ghastly error to let them back in it. Smicer made it 3-2 to us, Gerrard came off the bench I seem to remember then that spawny fat cu nt won the game. Did Heskey also miss a sitter at 2-1?
Despite what we thought at the time - It looks like a good bit of business in selling him - Since retruning to England he has hardly played - Start of a downward spiral ?

Quite right there mate :handshake:
We weren't to know how bad things would turn out... sort of glad we didn't re-sign him when you see this happen.
One thing after another for the lad :shake:

There's bound to be a youtube compilation of Owen's finest injuries: Owen twisting knee, Owen grabbing hamstring, Owen shaking head and looking at bench...
it was definately around 99/00, but i want footage dammit.
My Newcastle supporting mate is whinging that he is injured again.

April 12th 1999 was the first time he did it apparently. From the independent (just after his World Cup injury last year, so there's obviously a few more to add to this list)
Case notes: The injuries that have brought Owen low
Michael Owen's injury against Sweden is just one in a long line of injuries that he has sustained over the years.
12 April 1999
Ruptured a hamstring against Leeds. Out for three months. Owen claims that this injury was the one that set off all the other hamstring injuries.
6 October 2001 and 11 October 2003
Recurrence of the hamstring injury during World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Turkey.
15 October 2001
Gets a knee to the head from Christian Dailly and misses three matches.
15 June 2002
Tweaks the same hamstring against Denmark and plays through the pain barrier against Brazil.
17 October 2005
Again hamstring injury forces Owen to miss two Premier League games.
31 December 2005
Nasty collision with Paul Robinson breaks a metatarsal bone in his foot. Underwent surgery to have a pin placed in the bone, but the healing process does not go to plan and undergoes a second operation. Finally returns on 29 April albeit limps off at the end of the match
Unfortunately none of this helps you find the video you were looking for.
Glad I could be of so little use. :handshake:

We haven't had a consistent scorer since. I'm not so sure.
I want Owen to do well, i tend to focus on the good he did for us.
and my oh my did he do good for us, every game he plays I hope he scores bar against us.

The knee to the back of his head against Derby was pretty nasty as well.
