I like standing at matches of all kinds
Has football goer's in England matured enough to have standing back in some area's of grounds in England?
Im tall so its not easy for me at anfield, no legs space. Standing is required

I like sitting. I'm lazy as fuck and 105 mins on my feet counts as exercise.
Was at Scotland V Ukraine and we were standing for the whole 90, no steward even tried to make us sit down. Did give me a sore back though!
well I never went to footy when it was just standing, but most of the games I've been I've only ever sat down when it wasnt game time (ie just before the match and half time)
and you're right, I get a sore back! Think it's only when I've been in the Anny road end have I ever sat down.

It's a question of safety, therefore it has to be sitting.:handshake:

Anyone who has stood in a packed kop surrounded by kopites will tell you that absolutely nothing compares. There was nothing like it and Anfield has never been the same since it became all seated. I will cherish my days on the kop till the day I die.
However, after Hillsborough, safety has to come first...

im torn.....another terrible event like hillsborough should never ever happen but I do think that standing areas could be re-introduced....say have an area in which only adults can use as an allocated standing area, im all for at least trialling that option.

Standing works fine in Germany, so there's proof it can easily work safely.
There's always a risk, but there's risk of things going wrong with seating too.

It confuses me that people now think Hillsborough was caused by standing. Whislt not denying it contributed to the number of injuries and deaths, it wasn't the cause.

No but if people had been sat down there wouldn't have been a crush would there?
Standing on the Kop was an experience i'll never forget, and I would like to see standing in certain areas. However ther seem to be more dickheads at the game thses days and i'm not sure that they could be relied upon not to do something stupid.
I think standing helps create a better atmosphere.

Yep there still would have been a crush as too many people were directed into one area and there's no turnstile - sounds like Athens doesn't it? The crush might have occurred elsewhere, in the tunnels, the steps etc, but once that many people are herded into one place there's going to be a crush. The standing made the scale of the crush worse it didn't cause it.

Surely then that's reason enough not to have standing again then?

I don't think so, because the other measures that have been put in place such as stewarding gates, more efficient turnstile systems and most importantly a cultural shift that all football fans aren't demented hooligans have made it safer anyway.
Hillsborough was caused by a terrible decision taken by a man who had attended a 10 minute safety briefing and panickedand opened a gate letting too many people flood into one area. Standing or seated that was always going to end on tragedy.
I personally feel quite trapped in seats if there's any trouble, it's much harder to move away.
Standing on the Kop will be something that will live with me forever an absolutely unbelievable experience.
I'd love to get back to them days but sadly I think there are too many dickheads about these days and safety has to come first.

There was a chap from Weder Breman being interviewed on SSN yesterday and he was saying standing sections had worked very well in Germany and they hadnt had any problems with safety. Whether it could translate as well over here is another matter.

in my own opinion i think we should have something along the likes of dortmunds or schalke 4's stadium where they have one end all standing and the rest is seated.
this pic of werder bremens standing area is the one that crops up again and again and shows how it could be done with barriers between every row
