Was going through some old files from emule and found the three Gatti Vs Ward fights. Got me thinking about the best fight I had ever seen and to be honest couldn't think of one that was better than the second, or the third. First was fairly damn good as well.

Anyone?

Far too many to choose from to pick just one....although if I had to stick my neck out.....I'd probably say......er.........Benn v McClellan. Me and my old man sat there watching it in total disbelief. A tragic outcome but one hell of a fight.

Honourable mentions to:

Hearns v Leonard 1
Hagler v Hearns
Watson v Eubank
Benn v Watson
Benn v Eubank (what an era that was)
Ali v Frazier
Ali v Foreman

There was a great fight between two girls in my school years ago. That was a great fight and they both pulled out a bit of the others hair!

I havnt been following boxing for too long but the best match I've seen was Joe Calzaghe v Jeff Lacy. It was a masterclass of boxing

I remember the Benn v McClellan fight. I couldn't believe it when he went down on a knee. Me and my mates were having a right go because it looked like he had just packed in. I remember Benn mocking him in his interview after the fight. Like you said mate it took about ten minutes to work out what was actually going on.

Naseem v Kevin Kelly anyone?

Wish I'd been there. I was fairly good at school, but I once knocked out my best friend when I shoved him off the ball in the school yard. Not a fight really.

Like your thinking but if you want drama then Rocky v Creed II has to take it. Both men on the deck and whoever gets up wins. Balboa V Creed I was a classic as well

Leonard v Duran - (the first fight) was my favourite. Absolute blinding fight.
beat me to it,superb fight Leonard proved that day he wasn't just a showman and fought the hardest man in boxing toe to toe, even though Duran got the fight Leonard came out the winner and then went on to humiliate Duran in the re match, i think Leonard is heavily underrated among boxings purist and i can't fathom out why.my worse fight watching my hero Don Curry getting leathered by the unorthodox and overrated Lloyd honeghan on my frigging honeymoon.:sigh:

Have you seen Foley v Undertaker?

Firstly, Undertaker breaks his ankle early on yet still carries on, Cant think of any boxers who would do that. Foley is thrown off a cage from 20 feet up, threw a table on to he floor. If that happened to you or I, we'd probably have a broken back. Say what you like about it but they take more of a beaing than a lot people think.

The tables are designed to break your fall though. How did you find out the Undertaker broke his ankle. Still cant take anything out of it because it is still acting and not a brawl.

Some documentery I watched. Undertaker broke his ankle, Foley smashed a few teeth and needed a shit load of stiches. But yeah, its only acting. Fixed, I'll give you but acting it aint.

stuntmen get injured as do actors - this doesn't make film fights real

The Glove

Very true but them fights are edited and shot from various angles and done over and again so we see the best of it. Cant really do that at live events can you?

rnm

i wasn't drawing an exact analogy, abililty to edit doesn't come into my definition of real fighting either.

i see your point though; they are extremely fit and talented athletes that sometimes get injured

still not a real fucking fight though

neither is boxing :handshake: but boxing is a shit load more so than wrestling

hogan warrior at wrestlemania six was one of my favourite all time fights followed by razar ramon against shawn micheals ladder match at wrestlemania 10. that match set the standard for the wwe in recent years imho.

for all the people that say it's fake...yes the ending is predetermined but what those guys put them through to make those matches look real are unbelievable. i watched a documentary about hogan on the biography channel a week or so ago and it said that in 1 year he wrestled over 500 matches! that's 2 a day sometimes.

as for boxing my favourie fights inclube eubank v's benn 1. hatton v's tzyu. mayweather v's castillo 1 and 2 and corrales against castillo 1, the tenth round in that fight was unbelivable. the leonard against duran trilogy was excellent to watch as well as was gatti v's ward.

Think the word is more a good "show" than fight though Kurt. They are good athletes and all, and may get hurt the odd time. but i dont see them as legit fighters.
