What's going on then? Bolton now saying he's signed a contract but changed his mind and will sign for someone else.

I don't even want him to leave us :(

I'd love to keep him too but our midfield is getting mighty crowded with some great and much younger talent. I'd heard that Bolton are threatening to sue him

My mate runs a cafe in West Kirby that hamann frequently visits(apparently he is a bit of chain smoker,)

Anyway, he asked him what he was going to do just before he went on holiday. Apparently Hamann doesn't want too leave but has been told to go. He certainly doesn't want too leave the north west because his family are settled etc, but he is not attracted by any other north west clubs. My mate reckons he is stalling a move on purpose(digging his heels and tying himself to the railings:D )so he ends up staying

I thought he wanted to stay, and the club wanted him to stay... but he just doubts how much he'll get to play so feels he should move on.

No reason for him to dig his heels in... (if the above is true of course!)

If he doesn't mind warming the bench for most games I reckon it would be well worth keeping hold of him for at least another season. Sissoko won't be able to play the whole season (suspensions, injuries etc), and although Hamann hasn't got Momo's energy he's easily the next best option in the squad.

It might be that Rafa wants him to leave but not because of footballing reasons.

Hamann will be on a big contract and that money could be potentially better spent on a first teamer rather than an experienced old pro who is going to be sat on the bench more often then not.

I see Rafa is also talking about using Zenden in a central role this year - which means we aren't short of Central Midfielders.

I'm sure we'll miss Hamann's presense though.

Do they have a future at Liverpool ? I had so much hope for ALT ,but hes just not improved since hes been here.

Unfortunately these gems never had the right type of coach to guide them through from youth level to Premiership football.
Hate to say it but under Wenger I think they would have made more of an impact, maybe not set the world alight but definitely better.
Flo still can develop into a very good little player at Liverpool but will he get the time from Rafa?

hello, first post from me!

They ain't good enough, sadly, and never really looked like they might be. Real shame - suppose you need to take a punt sometimes. As ever, houllier paid about 3 times the price he should have and took more of a punt then he should have...

I've got a mate who is pretty well connected who reckons Rafa said he could leave last summer but Moores persuaded him to let him stay for another year as a ta for Istanbul. Moores paid his wages last season personally aparantly

Yes but remember that even Fergie rang to congratulate Ged on the purchases!! How much did we pay for them?

Total waste of time and money I'm afraid! Altho FSP might still make it somewhere - I quite like him.

It is well documented that Wenger blew his top when he found out we had signed them too. He had more than a keen eye on them.
I have no doubt wenger would have utilised their tallents better than GH did.

I see blackburn don't FSP anymore.

FowlerLeftFoot

Both are good players but their progress had become stagnant since they joined Liverpool. GH didnt nurture them properly and RB didnt give them much of a chance.

So it looks like its Man City for Didi then. Good Luck Keiser, you'll be missed, you chain-smoking King.

Am supprised at that.
I think Rafa's management style would make better use of a player like Flo anyway, with him using their strengths a little better tactically.

Not really arsed about ALT - he always struck me as arrogant and overrated

Really liked the look of FSP tho, he is always energtic and commited and has bags of potential. Unfortunatly this was hampered by GH. The way football is for younger players at the moment, if you're at a big club and haven't made a big impression by time you are 20, the majority will be shipped out. I reckon this is the case when Rafa took over, he obviously wants more from a 22year old.

As I said in another post on here, FSP problem is he isn't prolific enough to be an out and out striker and he defo isn't a winger, he's a luxury player thats sits well in the hole and we already have one in Garcia

Rich

I think Garcia offers far more than FSP offers. FSP might have the edge on the pace front, but he isn't as 'cute' with the ball at his feet than Garcia. Garcia also has the knack of scoring on the big stage, where as FSP hasn't got that ability (yet.)

Whenever FSP plays well however, he does cause teams trouble.

PTP
12-07-06, 01:17 PM
exactly, thats what i was saying, Rafa doesn't seem to keen on this type of player is obviosly happy with just the one in Garcia,

Whilst I'm certainly not Luis Garcia's biggest fan(expect a few rants during the season:D ) he does offer more than FSP and is certainly more clinical.

I know FSP causes teams problems with his pace, but with Gonzalez and Bellamy in the squad (and possibly one other signing) we certainly won't miss him.

I really think that the pace of those 2 will really enhance our game, and give us more possibilites, for sure

ALT's always thought he was the best thing since sliced bread... not the right attitude. I love that story about when he told Rafa he expected a regular first team place and Rafa asked which club he'd like to go on loan to then.

FSP' s always seemed to have a much better attitude, I just can't quite see him ever being anything better than someone like Lua Lua. I'd keep him around though, especially given the lack of other young forwards in our squad

I think alot of trouble with our french youngsters and french players in general happened on the back of the success in '98 an 2000. I think many of them let the hype and expectation get to them. And many of us stood in awe at the french academy...when in truth they were never going to be the next zidane...

PTP

never thought of it like that - a very vaild point.

I thought FSP showed signs of bitterness when he went on loan to Blackburn - didn't he come out with stuff like "most people in Liverpool support Everton"?

le tallec should be used as an attacking midfielder not a striker. he has got the vision and the skill i think he will be a star in the future, but probably not for us
