Andrew Flintoff (c), Marcus Trescothick, Andrew Strauss, Alister Cook, Kevin Pieterson, Paul Collingwood, Ian Bell, Chris Read, Geriant Jones, Asley Giles, Monty Panesar, Steve Harmison, Matthew Hoggard, Sajid Mahmood, Liam Plunkett and James Anderson.
OOOOOOOOOoh! Big risk only picking 5 specialist batsmen, I was wondering who the 6th would be but I suppose G.Jones started out as a specialist batsman so he could deputise.
7 specialist bowlers :eyebrow:
I hope Jimmy comes good, I believe in him.
Shame S.jones won't be there :(

The Aussies aren't that bad.
I reckon they'll win at least 1 Test

I think Collingwood can be counted as a specialist batsmen. I'm sure his ability with the ball did not play a large part in the selectors' decision.

if you compare this squad to last years ashes winning team pansear is a better bowler than giles cook is a excellent batsmen only missing simon jones and vaughan

But Jones and Vaughan are massive players for them IMO.
I can't see England retaining the Ashes. It's a bit early for a prediction but I say 3-1 to the Aussies.
Do the Welsh lads on here support us at cricket? Obviously we've had Welsh players representing England sometimes...Croft, Jones etc, but can you bring yourselves to cheer for us?

I'm a massive Cricket fan Shaggy and am glued to the TV over a weekend when the test matches are on.
A good question about supporting 'England' though.
It's funny how it's the England and Wales Cricket Board who run the game but when it comes to the representative side, the 'Wales' is dropped.
Very strange that. Anyway, to answer your question, I do cheer for 'England' because I know it's really England and Wales playing, and stuck-up tradition prevents the side being called by it's true name.
'England' would never have regained the Ashes without a Welshman in Simon Jones.
Mind you, they wouldn't have won it without Pietersen either and he's about as English as Zola Budd.
Now then if we were talking Rugby..............

 not sure about flintoff as captain i remember another great all rounder being made captain his name Ian botham and until he was relieved of the captaincy he had a nightmare, i think the responsibility of captaincy will burden flintoff and with that burden his natural cavalier talents will be subdued, as for who should be captain i don't know maybe leave Strauss in the position, another brearley would be nice but sadly they don't exist anymore.
