Fulham are close to signing veteran Finnish international Jari Litmanen and will undergo a trial with the club. (AFP news agency, 0949 GMT)

Got this from the BBC website...not sure how reliable it is.

Could be a good signing for them...be nice to see him back in the Prem. He might actually get a game too!

He may be too old and slow for the Premiership now though, but i see what the press are doing, Hodgson the ex Finninsh coach is being linked to all Finnish players, how long before Sami is linked?

I think he already has been...I'm sure I read it a couple of weeks ago.

Jari has been in London since yesterday and will start to train with Fulham tomorrow. This is what all Finnish press is telling today with quotes from Hodgson and Litmanen.

He might be slow but he will have some sort of an impact in training if given a contract. I can see a six month contract at the most.

Litmanen trains
Finnish captain Jari Litmanen has teamed up with Roy Hodgson’s Fulham squad today and will be taking part in the Club’s training sessions over the next week.

Litmanen was Hodgson’s captain during Finland’s Euro 2008 qualifying campaign and the striker has been his nation’s talisman over the past decade, earning 110 caps and scoring 28 goals along the way. Finland

On the domestic scene Litmanen started his career with Reipas in Finland’s premier division before enjoying great success with Ajax, winning four Dutch titles, three domestic Cups and European Cup in the Club’s famous number 10 shirt.

Litmanen went on to represent Barcelona and Liverpool. During his time on Merseyside the Finnish playmaker achieved a cup treble with the Reds in 2001, winning the Worthington Cup, FA Cup and Uefa Cup.

A return to Ajax followed before more recent spells with Bundesliga side Hansa Rostock and Swiss side Malmo FF.

Think around 34.

So was he really only about 28 when he came to us? What a waste! He would've been in his prime!

EDIT: According to Wikipedia, he's 36, 37 in February.

And Fulham are knocked out of the FA Cup by Bristol Rovers!

A terrible start for Hodgson.

I dont think we fucked up Jari's time here. I didnt think he made a great impact and despite the fact he didnt get a decent run of games together he looked past his prime when I saw him. Way past it now though, surely no truth in this?
