    Skrtel named top slovak

Martin Skrtel is celebrating today after being named Slovakia's Player of the Year for 2007.
Skrtel signed in at Anfield last month from Zenit St Petersburg and made his full league debut on Saturday as Liverpool ran out 3-0 winners over Sunderland.

And three years after being named his country's most promising player he has now won his nation's premier footballing award.

"I am grateful for this award," he said. "I had a fantastic year but winning the Russian title with Zenit was more important for me.

"This is my most valuable individual success."

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Should send that to Bascombe, but to be fair it is only Slovakia

Fair Play. At least he's the best something.

I think he's gonna be a great signing for us. He looks mean and nasty.

Well, he was up against Hamsik, one of the best left wingers in Serie A.

He looks very promising. He hasn't settled in ala Torres, but neither did Vidic and they're both similar players. He's a scary ****er though and up for a confrontation.
            That's the one...

He's had two good games for us: one good, one poor.

To say he hasn't settled in yet is harsh.

He's obviously a good player. Why else would Rafa have spent over £6M on him.

He's fast, seems to have a nasty streak and looks like an extra from Full Metal Jacket. Sounds like the makings of a top defender to me.

I think we'll see the best of him next year and I think he will be a big success at the club.
A humble guy with healthy desire.
