Chelsea are prepared to pay £28million to bring Real Madrid star Robinho to Stamford Bridge, the player's agent has claimed.

The Brazilian forward has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United, possibly in a swap deal involving Cristiano Ronaldo, but his advisor has now revealed that he has engaged in talks with Chelsea.

Agent Wagner Ribeiro claims he met with Chelsea managing director Peter Kenyon on Thursday, during which a fee for the player was discussed.

"I met Peter Kenyon, Chelsea managing director, in London on Thursday," said Ribeiro to Brazilian TV station Globo.

"He told me that they (Chelsea) were considering making an offer of 35 million euros for Robinho."

Only last week Robinho claimed he was settled in Spain and had no intention of leaving Madrid, but news of Chelsea's interest will certainly cause a stir in the capital.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich has made no secret of his desire to see a more aesthetically pleasing style of football being played in West London, and Robinho is certainly a player that would meet such criteria.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is now expected to make available a £100million transfer kitty and Kenyon has revealed the club are only looking to bring in big names, with the likes of Milan playmaker Kaka and Real Madrid ace Robinho thought to be prime targets.

£28m is alot of money but you expect that from Chelsea

Robinho is quality though. He would be brilliant for them in the LWF position. Infact he is exactly the kind of wide flair player we need

He had a rough first season at Madrid, but he has been excellent since then and I reckon will only get better.

His physique is more suited to spain and I expect him to fall over often, but he is a quality player.

He is a quality player but I dont see him liking the hustle and bustle of the Premiership. Have to agree that 28mill is fucking crazy, id say the lad was worth 15mill absolute max!
Still if he comes then that means the end of Malouda/Cole or both. Both of which id be happy with.
