    6+5 ruling

What with the deadline getting closer I thought I may speculate a few things. This will obviosly have massive implications were this ruling to come into force. A minimum of 6 players eligible for the national squad in our first team would be tough to maintain.

So if this does happen, how do we start to plan? Should we be letting go of Pennant, Crouch and Carson? And one for the fans of Dirk Kuyt, should we be keeping him ahead of Crouch or Pennant?

Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Mascherano, Torres and Babel are all top class foriegn players that will be around for a good while but we would need to take one out of our starting XI to reach the quota.

Then there is the likes of Lucas, Plessis, Nemeth, Pacheco and Bruna as well as many others. How will we blood these youngsters and implement them into our line up if our quota is already full?

    ---------------

So my main question is this - Do we start a policy of recruiting the best English players with immediate effect and stop the signing of young foreign players? (minus those with massive potential of course).

Is it worth recruting young English players like Bentley and Downing over slightly superior foreign alternatives?

Tough choices ahead for Rafa if this rule is implemented.

Alot of what I say above will have direct effect on some peoples preffered choices.

Ben Arfa, Benzema, Nasri and Menez all have undoubted potential but would their be much point in signing them? After all, even if they fullfilled their vast potential we may still not have room in our first XI for them!

And of course in this situation Barry in and Alonso out does seem a better option.
    Forwards.......

I can't see this rule coming into force.

It contervenes any number of EU laws.

Obviously Rafa is right to be wary of it, but I'd be shocked if it came in.

I agree, but Blatter seemed pretty convinced today -

The price of English players is stupid enough already
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

This is just going to stuff smaller clubs right up, as i stands now only players that are highly regarded are snapped up by the big teams if this comes in then any youngster that can kick a ball will be hoovered up by the big teams for peanuts.

I think it was planned for 2012/13 which is still a little way off, and what are the specifics do you have to be available for the host national team or just a citizen?

I agree and I think this should cost Blatter his job if he doesn't get anywhere with it. Just how much time and money does FIFA have to waste on trying to overturn EU employment laws?

The other thing that puzzles me is even if the ****face gets this rule through what happens if you have a freak injury crisis and 10 of your English players are hurt meaning you don't have enough elligible Englishmen to fill your 'quota?' Game abandoned or do the rules get bent?
