Eriksson leaves Man City, Hughes appointed manager.

Man City and Sven-Goran Eriksson have parted company.

Madness in my opinion. He's an excellent club manager who had them playing some fantastic football this season.

Apparently Mark Hughes will be taking over.

Bit surprised Hughes would leave a stable club like Blackburn, for a currently unstable and unpredictable club like Citeh. Money talks a I guess.

Still, may make our job of getting Bentley a tad easier, if Hughes isn't standing in the way.

Hughes and Zico are the rumours in today's press. Apparently the board want Hughes, and Shinawatra wants Zico as he is a "bigger name".

Either way it's ridiculous and another small indication of how football is going.

Looks like it will be Hughes then.

            From The Guardian:

The Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has been given permission to talk to Manchester City following the departure of Sven-Goran Eriksson, which was confirmed this morning.

A statement from Rovers confirmed they had been approached by City asking to talk to Hughes about the now vacant manager's post at Eastlands. "Mark has made it clear to the board he would like the opportunity to talk to Manchester City," it read. "In view of this the board have decided reluctantly to give permission subject to terms and conditions acceptable to Blackburn Rovers being agreed with Manchester City in advance."

Thats interesting, Hughes spouts off about Bentley having a contract and he wont be playing anywhere else blah blah blah but when his own self interest is at stake there's no problem. ****.

Ouch. From Thaksins last statement rejecting the story about him selling the squad I didn't think this would actually happen.

It sounded all amicable as thought things had settled down.

Class A prick. We were very lucky, he makes Laurel and Hardy look like a good option.

Although I'm not his greatest fan, I think this may provide us with a good oppurtunity to have a word with David Bentley, depending on who is brought in to replace Hughes should he go to Man City. £15m is an absolute joke, but if they would be prepared to sell for £8m (as has been mentioned today) then he would definitely be worth a shout.

Mark Hughes named as new Manchester City boss

                    Jun 4 2008 Liverpool Echo

MARK HUGHES has been unveiled as the new manager of Manchester City.

City parted company with Sven-Goran Eriksson on Monday and were immediately given permission to talk to Blackburn manager Hughes, 44, with a compensation package agreed yesterday.

Hughes was also believed to be interesting Chelsea after a successful four years at Rovers but has opted to move to Eastlands on a three-year deal.

City’s new chief executive, Garry Cook, said: "I am delighted to welcome Mark on board. In our view he is the brightest young manager in the game and he was our number one target for the manager’s job."

makes you wonder if the Chav's will be left high and dry - and City must look a better prospect than the chavs.

anyone think Sven was only there for a year anyhow?

Surely he wont now try and bring Bentley to City, after saying he would rather let the lad rot in the reserves than sell him, would be just a touch Hypocritical imo.

As opposed to jumping ship as soon as a 'bigger' club came in for him which in no way represents a betrayal of the spirit of his words about Bentley.
