Cisse hoping for baptism of fire
France striker Djibril Cisse hopes to make his debut for Marseille against Lyon towards the end of October.

The fixture, which will be played on the weekend of October 21-22, would pit together the two top clubs in Ligue 1 if they maintain their current positions.

Cisse is nearing the end of his recovery from the broken tibia that ruled him out of the World Cup.

The 25-year-old, who joined Marseille from Liverpool on a season-long loan in the summer, told L'Equipe: "Everything is going well and I am jogging again. It's all going to plan."

Asked about whether he would play against Lyon, he said: "That's my challenge."

Cisse, pursuing his recovery in the Mediterranean resort of St Raphael, admitted Marseille's excellent start to the season could make it hard for him to get in the team.

"I will take nobody's place," he said. "I have to be at the right level. I will get in the team if I deserve to and nothing is to be taken for granted.

"I don't see why the coach (Albert Emon) would drop someone just because of my name."

Asked about playing for the French national team after injury deprived him of participating in Les Bleus' march to the World Cup final, Cisse said: "I want to return to the France team as soon as possible."

hope he smacks Houllier's team straight into next year - and puts a couple of pounds onto his price tag.

Imagine, if we got a fee for him we might have Alves now as well.

I wish him all the best, for his sake as much as LFC's. I hope he's had all the bad luck for his career.
