Santa Cruz - Man United want to sign me

Roque Santa Cruz has revealed that Manchester United are in the hunt to sign him.

The 26-year-old had a scintillating maiden campaign in England, bagging 23 goals following his move from Bayern Munich.

Now, despite having three-years left on his current deal, he is being linked with a big-money move away from Ewood Park.

Speaking in Paraguay, where he is preparing for World Cup duty, Santa Cruz revealed that United were after him.

Santa Cruz told La Nacion: "The interest from Manchester United is real but I'm busy now so my representatives will handle anything if there is a concrete offer."

United are thought to have been monitoring Santa Cruz for a number of months, but they are not likely to be alone in making a move - with Mark Hughes looking likely to show an interest in his former charge.

Hughes sealed his own move away from Blackburn on Wednesday when he agreed to take charge at Manchester City.

And one of his first moves could very well be to go back for Santa Cruz.

He'll go to City. City have no decent strikers.

I would but i would think it is very different for Cruz. He would be a near ideal signing for them. Good movement, strong and a good finisher. Not world class but like Saha before him a striker in the mould the team needs to make their system work better against some teams.

Don't they have Manucho who is pretty similar in stature if not bigger in weight and height to Cruz and is a decent finisher

              Er, yes!

I'd give more consideration to my wife if she asked if she could cut my cock off.

Obviously we would, but every player dreams of playing for the top clubs. No matter how much we hate to admit it, Utd are a top club, and compared to Blackburn its a no brainer.

Bull****, if you were a professional football player and you knew that your team wasn't interested you'd play for the biggest club you could.

As much as I hate to say it but I'd play for United, Chelsea or Arsenal in a heartbeat if I was good enough and LFC didn't want me.

                        Nah.

If I was comfortable where I was (in this case Blackburn) - doing well, earning good money, providing for my family - I would never, ever sign for them. Never in a million years.

If I was playing for Crawley Town earning **** all, then admittedly I'd sign for them if it was the only option.

What with Ferguson's rant about Madrid theo tehr day, I'm sure he's not tapped the player up in any way here. Good to see

I find it hard to believe. What are you playing the game for? Just to provide for your family i.e. Cash - or because ever since you were young you wanted to win the FA Cup or the league?

Rightly we slate money-grabbing players, only in it for the cash; yet you're saying that is exactly the type of player you'd be?!?

                            That is a paradox.

So someone who turns down Man United and their offer of megabucks, in favour of staying where he already is (on less money!), is a money-grabber?

The point is Santa-Cruz is happy, performing to a higher level than he ever has done and isn't short of money. If I were in his shoes, as an ardent LFC supporter, I wouldn't bat an eyelid if United came knocking. I'd tell them to **** right off.
