Chelsea have made an "astronomical" bid for Brazilian Kaka.

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani says Chelsea have made an "astronomical" bid for Brazilian Kaka.

The Blues have long been linked with a move for 26-year-old World Player of the Year and their boss is now ex-Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Galliani told Italian newspaper La Stampa: "We received an astronomical offer from Chelsea for Kaka."

Galliani also revealed the club have had interest in 29-year-old Italy midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

Pirlo's agent has been reported as saying in the Italian press he wants his client to be given the same wage as Kaka.

But Galliani added: "For Pirlo, there have been many requests. But neither Pirlo nor his agent have come into my office and asked me for an improvement in salary."

Galliani says selling Kaka and Pirlo would immediately stabilise Milan's finances, with the club having missed out on a place in next season's Champions League.

"All we would need to do in order to wipe out our debts is sell Kaka and Pirlo," he said.

AC Milan technical director Leonardo told BBC Sport last month it was "impossible" for Chelsea to sign Kaka.

Kaka himself revealed to BBC Sport in April he would not rule out the possibility of one day playing for one of the big clubs in the Premier League.

It is worrying. Financial stability for Milan if they take this offer

But he is their Driving force, he saved them from embarresment on countless occasions over the past few years, especially last season. He was a 1 man show for them at times. The rest of the squad did not perform and he was always the 1 pulling them through

    Oh well.......so be it

I don't think it does that at all.

Prior to Abramovich taking over Chelsea, only one club in the world could afford astronomical transfer fees (Real Madrid). Now only two can. Everyone else, and I include ManU, Arsenal, Bayern, Juve, Inter, AC Milan and Barca in that, are miles behind by that measure alone, and I really don't see that us being unable to make £75m bids for one player is indicitive off how poorly off we are in the market, or of how badly previous regiemes ran the club. Not being able to afford any top players maybe would be, but being unable to bid absolutely stupid amounts of money is not necessarily a bad thing, and I very much doubt anyone who takes us over would sanction such fees. And neither should they.

Post-Abramovich football is not a level playing field, and we need to stop expecting it to be one.

Good point there. Post the Abramovich era we only had united to try and overtake with regards to funds ect which was hard enough, however with Chelsea the goal post have been moved completely. If Chelsea have one bad season they have the resources to completely restructure their squad within one sumer and come out stronger than before.

United are able to go out and spend £70m in one summer and if they sell Ronaldo will be equipped with £50m+ more. Its just a big heart wrenching knowing we should be able to atleast compete with united

True, but then they have unfortunately been by a long way the most successful club in this country for the last 15 years, a time during which the financial face of football has changed beyond all recognition. Its sickening that they can win the title and spend £70m the following summer, but in some way atleast they have earnt their financial position through prolongued success... and I do believe that even they would baulk at a looney fee for someone like Kaka. Chelsea are just mental.

Why do people think that if DIC take over the club we will be in a similar position to Chelsea?Abramavich isn't an investor ffs, he's a billionaire who wanted a football team to play with. Investors buy clubs for one reason only - to make money. As we have found out the hard way, Inverstors don't always have the best interests of the fans or Club at heart
