View Full Version : Joaquin.
Few sites saying we have him got on a year loan. Dont know how true it is but we could do with fresh options out wide.

interesting, any links mate?
Just heard from a mate who is generally spot on with info ,that we are trying to get Jaoquin on a season-long loan. Negotions have taken place and only sticking point is size of loan "fee" to be paid and percentage of wages that we have to pay. i'd be very surpised but mate said it could be our last minute shock signing and if it dosent happen we wont hear about it. If it dosen't happen rafa wants it kept quiet so other players in that position don't get upset. also Said pennant will be gone tomorrow, but voronin might be staying for now.

Sounds good. I think we should keep hold of Voronin - I think maybe he's been a bit too harshly judged. He's a bit shit, but he works hard and might be useful in some of the tougher games. I'd rather Voronin got kicked about than Torres, and he can produce the unexpected sometimes.
Fuck it, I'd love it if we signed Joaquin. Pace and direct running on the right.
Would certainly add a bit of flair to our wing, so I would welcome him!
But I think it is somewhat unlikely to happen.

He's not ideal for reasons mentioned many a time, but I could think of only Quaresma who would be a better signing at this moment in time.
On loan with option to sign? Fuck yes. Nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Fuck me.
I'd love this to be true.
This would be interesting. There may be something in it as Rafa mentioned more about width and spreading the play in the last week than in the last 4 years.

I'd be very suprised if it happened, but it could be a good deal if true
He would be world class in the Premiership.

is this likely though Rashid? Heard anything fairly reliable?
Superb deal if it is true. We could do with a player of his 'Betis' quality and he could benefit with a new challenge it seems.
He'd be a great loan deal. Bags of quality; speed also & he has a lot to prove to a lot of people. Riera one side; him the other with Gerrard & Mascherano in the middle behind Keane/Babel & Torres. We'd actually have a chance with that team.

Valencia tops Mallorca 3-0 on opening day of Spanish league season
23 hours ago
MADRID, Spain — David Villa, Juanma Mata and Vicente Rodriguez scored in Valencia's 3-0 victory over Mallorca on Saturday, the opening day of the Spanish league season.
Striker Villa, who signed a new six-year contract on Wednesday despite reported interest from Real Madrid, headed the first goal of Valencia's new campaign from Pablo Hernandez's bouncing cross in the 34th.
Four minutes later, midfielder Mata nodded home after Mallorca goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya had parried Villa's fierce shot.
Substitute Vicente sealed the win in the 83rd - nine minutes after replacing midfielder David Silva - when he scored on a low cross by Hernandez's replacement, Miguel Angel Angulo.
Valencia's emphatic first win provided encouragement after its 10th-place finish last season - the team's worst showing in a decade. It also boosted 36-year-old coach Unai Emery, who took charge in May to become the youngest coach in the club's history.
In the game which kicked off the season, Luis Garcia's 48th-minute goal brought Espanyol a 1-0 win over Valladolid.
On Sunday, Real Madrid begins its bid for a third straight title at Deportivo La Coruna, where it hasn't won since 1991.
FC Barcelona will be under new coach Pep Guardiola for its visit to promoted Numancia, while Villarreal, last season's runner-up, plays at Osasuna.
Also Sunday, it's: Athletic Bilbao versus Almeria; Atletico Madrid versus Malaga; Real Betis versus Recreativo Huelva; Sporting Gijon versus Getafe; and Racing Santander versus Sevilla.
Villa, whose four goals helped Spain win the European Championships two months earlier, received a warm reception at Mestalla Stadium and proved a constant worry for Mallorca's defense.
However, the striker wasted a clear chance to double his tally when he blazed the ball over the bar in the 59th minute.
Emery surprisingly left right winger Joaquin Sanchez in the stand, with media suggesting Madrid has turned its attention to the right winger as a possible replacement for the unsettled Robinho.
Mallorca, which is close to being sold to British investor Paul Davidson, has only won its opening match of the season once in the past 11 years.
Espanyol striker Garcia received Ivan De La Pena's pass before unleashing a shot past Valladolid goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo.
Espanyol's victory at its Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium made for a promising start for coach Bartolome "Tintin" Marquez, who replaced Ernesto Valverde at the end of last season. Valverde is now in charge of Greek club Olympiakos.
It also boosted the morale of the Barcelona-based team, which appears close to losing Spain midfielder Albert Riera to Liverpool and Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta to Manchester City.

Riera and Joaquin....
Weren't they both of Everton's desperate season ticket grabbing signings?
If this is true then what a brilliant way to pee them off

Think Valencia would be happier letting him go to us, and in the past Joaquin has declared a wish to move to us. If Rafa wants him then this move could be on the cards.
I just don't see Rafa changing the habit of a lifetime and getting this player in. Not sure he is compact and solid enough for his liking. Same story as Quaresma last year.
I could just imagine a team with Keane, Torres, Gerrard, Riera and Joaquin though, with Babel in reserve to cover for anyone of them. Add Mascherano winning the ball and Alonso spraying the passes then I really could start to get excited for this season.
I would feel we could cover for injuries with players of that ilk in the squad.
:haha::haha::haha: LMAO at this thread.
Joaquin on LOAN :haha:
Joaquín Rejected Big Move.
Valencia winger Joaquín will remain at the Mestalla at least for the remainder of the year after rejecting a last minute offer to move abroad.
Joaquín’s immediate future will remain in the white of Valencia after the 27 year old was believed to have turned down a possible move to another European club in the last hours of the transfer market.
Madrid-based sports daily Marca has speculated that one of those clubs may have been either Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan (who has since snapped up Ricardo Quaresma) or Juande Ramos’ Tottenham Hotspurs.
The player’s agent has already contacted the Valencia board to let them know that no agreement has been reached with any potential suitors before the August 31st transfer deadline and he will thus remain a Los Ché player.

It is a tad funny tbh.
Are we getting that desperate that the merest whisper of a big name stirs up an unrealistsic belief among us?

It's true i saw him outside Anfield last night trying to get hold of Parry but apparently he was stuck in the showcase watching Hellboy 2 so could not get the deal done in time. Apparently Parry thought he would have plenty of time after the movie, however he forgot about the trip to Mcdonald's afterwards so by the time he got back to Anfield it was gone midnight.
:haha:
I can just imagine Parry sitting in a near-empty cinema, alone, dressed like Colin from The Fast Show, scoffing popcorn and watching Hellboy 2 :haha:

You did this just to use that punchline.
Decided to find out where he is. He went to Malaga for €4m last summer.
Then further down the page spotted this little gem:
During the early stages of the Euro 2008 qualification campaign, Spain lost 2–3 against Northern Ireland. After the match, Joaquín told in a Spanish radio interview: "Right now, the national team is a mess, chaos and Luis doesn't know how to handle it in these difficult moments. I know that what I'm saying is not going to help me get back into the national team, but it's what I feel." He later commented, "The only thing I wanted to say is that these are not clear times for the national squad after losing to Northern Ireland .... but it was not my intention to attack the team or Luis Aragonés"
Smart move :haha:
