From BBC
Real Madrid are preparing to launch a bid for Liverpool centre-back Daniel Agger in January. (Various)
No chance, not even for £20m
Stoke are lining up a £3m bid for Liverpool's 25-year-old winger Jermaine Pennant. (Various)
£3m LOL. They were going to pay £5-6m for Joe Ledley (Cardiff). £5m and someone to read him his contract...

As Agger can buy himself out of his contract I wouldn't be so sure about that. Got a horrible feeling Danny will go...
If Agger doesn`t become a regular I think he`ll go.
Skrtel is doing really well and Carra can`t be dropped it`s a big fear that Agger will leave.
I don`t think the owners will say no to a decent bid for what they probably see as a squad player
We have to start playing Agger at home against the weaker opposition IMO. However good Carra and Skrtel are playing at the moment, they will need a rest at some point, and those are the perfect games to get Agger back in the fold, particularly due to his ability to bring the ball out.

back on topic - i really hope agger gets a game. he is just too good to be on the bench and is a better footballer (maybe not defender) than carra
if we let him go it would be a stupid bit of business by the club

think Agger would be daft to go - Carra has only got a couple or three decent years in him and Agger is only 23

Jan Molby said on Danish tele the other night that Benitez had ideas of playing Carragher at RB on occasions, apparently he politely refused :source:
Gerrard and Carragher are great players but have far too much influence at times i think, They played a big part in Keane joining as well.

Mr. Molby came out with some shocking statements last night, wouldn't read too much into it :crackoff:
Seriously, how can a player politely refuse to play where his boss tells him to play? Then he should be flogged, no matter what his name is. Have a hard time believing this tbh.
I think Skrtel is excellent at bringing the ball out of defence. He's very good with his hands.

I hope Agger is offered and signs a long term new deal. He really can be the cornerstone of our defence for many years to come and should just continue to be patient as his time will come, sooner rather than later as well.
However, if he goes I think there is another top 4 PL team who will be after him and where he could fit in very well.... Arsenal. Dread the thought of him going there though.
Pennant already rejected a move to Stoke on deadline day didn't he?
Maybe the fact that they have been less shit than expected might have changed his mind about the move. I still doubt he would want to go especially as he was in the squad the other day which seems to indicate that there is a chance (all be it slim) that he may be able to get back into Rafa's plans. Being an English player for the CL squad may well help his cause.

RAFA Benitez today issued a hands off warning to Real Madrid over Daniel Agger after the Spanish giants admitted the Dane is top of their wanted list.
Agger has had to settle for a place on the subs bench in recent weeks due to the fine form of Martin Skrtel and Jamie Carragher – leading to speculation that the former Brondby man could be up for grabs.
Real Madrid are the first club to publicly declare an interest in the 23-year-old with vice-president Jose Angel Sanchez admitting the reigning La Liga champions are ready to make a bid for Agger when the transfer window opens in January.
But Benitez dismissed their interest, insisting Agger still has a massive future at Anfield and warning Real and any other interested parties that the classy centre back is not for sale.
“The situation is very simple, Daniel Agger is our player and he is not for sale,” said the Reds boss.
“His future is at Anfield and nowhere else.
“He knows my ideas because we have talked with him and he has a long future with us.
“We do not want to lose our concentration just before we play Manchester City by talking about other things but it is important that people know that Agger is not for sale.”
Real’s declaration of interest in one of his players will disappoint Benitez, particularly with Sanchez indicating that they are already considering making an offer in January.
“He is a player we have been looking at for a long time and it is likely we will bid for him in January,” said Sanchez.
“He is a world-class player and without a doubt he would fit into our system.
“We already had plans about buying Agger this summer, along with some other players, but the Robinho situation took so much attention and demanded so many resources from the club that we had to drop the plans about putting a bid in for Agger and other players that we had in mind.
“What we need is a defender and a striker and, at the moment, Agger is on top of our list.”
Agger has already vowed to fight for his place at Anfield and though he is now in the final two years of his current contract, Benitez is keen to get him signed up to a new deal.
Meanwhile, Dirk Kuyt is hoping to take his European scoring form into domestic action as he looks to end an 11 month barren spell in the Premier League.
The Dutch striker has scored 10 goals in his last 16 Champions League outings but has not scored in the Premier League since last November.
“It's strange that I score that many in Europe but not in the Premier League, so hopefully that will change," said Kuyt.
"But the main thing is the manager's shown a lot of confidence in me by giving me a lot of games."

Milan Push And Shake For Agger
Milan are ready to launch an assault for under-fire Liverpool stopper Daniel Agger, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.
The Danish central defender doesn't seem a part of the project 'Pool coach Rafa Benitez has planned and he is unlikely to renew his current deal, which expires in 2010.
Agger is a loggerheads with his coach as he has been used as a bit-part player at Anfield. He is now being looked at by the Rossoneri as a possible replacement for the injury prone Alessandro Nesta.
http://i.media.goal.com/g/28334_news.jpg
Il Corriere Dello Sport claims Milan are ready to make a move and they will insert French midfielder Yoann Gourcuff, currently on-loan at Bordeaux, as part of the deal.
The 24-year-old has been advised to the San Siro club by former Rossonero Tomas Helveg and the club is ready to move and shake by tempting the Premier League side with a bid during the January transfer window.
Milan's real objective is Spanish international Sergio Ramos but if that fails, Agger will be the alternative as Ancelotti goes for youth over experience as he pushes the pineapple and shakes the tree.

Haha some funny shit in that article.
The part about Rafa not offering him a new deal is crap, but the rest is fairly believable.
Gourcuff is a central attacker so we would have no real need for him. Milan can push and shake all they want, but Rafa will reject them. Tells you how strong we are in the centre of defence when Real and Milan are in for our third choice.
Gourcuff is a central midfielder, box to box with the attacking game as his best part.

We wont sell him at all. That statement is very debatable.

Hate to say it but Rio has been class for a while now. He is more complete imo. Skrtel has shown in his time here that he has the lot too. Vidic,Terry,Carvalho to name a few more.

Terry must be the most overrated player ever that played the game. He is shit when Carvalho isn't there to help him out. He isn't fit to lace Agger's boots.

agger is a top player and we'd be idiots to sell him. now that skertl is out its time for him to grasp his opportunity and come January the last thing on his mind will be leaving us as we're in the knockout stages of the champions league and fighting it out at the top of the premiership.
:handshake:
For Agger the international break may well have been ideal - competitive games to sharpen him up. He now has a chance to re-establish himself in the starting line up. His injury gave Skrtel his chance and now the opposite is happening. With a CB partnership consistency in selection is key so it is always hard to displace someone when the team is doing well. If Agger is the player we all believe him to be then he will play consistently until January and keep the shirt.
He`ll get the majority of games, as Sami can`t play in the CL.
Agger and Carra will be given games to gel.

Rio Ferdinand is the most complete defender in the world. He's got everything. He's prone to the odd lapse in concentration but when he's on his game there's no one better. Sad to say, but most of us know this is true.
Im looking forward to seeing Agger play again. Perhaps the lengthy layoff will actually have improved his game and Skrtle will have a tough task getting back in the side

I dont agree, no one's better than Carragher for me.
And he cant be "the complete defender" if he has lapses in concentration.

you must be smoking crack if you beleive rio is the most complete defender in the world!!! vidic carries him in so many of uniteds games its unreal. i'm not saying rio isnt a class act on the pitch but vidic and caravalho are far superior defenders.

And he cant be "the complete defender" if he has lapses in concentration.
By "most complete", I think he means has the broadest set of skills. For example, Ferdinand is quick, strong, reads the game well, good in the air, good with the ball at his feet, organises well and occaisionally scores goals.
While Carragher exceeds Ferdinand in certain aspects, he is in no way more complete - Carra himself even says this in his book!!
And he also didn't call Ferdinand "the complete defender", he said his is the "most complete" - there is a big difference.

Are you saying you would rather have ferdinand instead of Carragher ?
I for one would not, Carragher is a most complete Liverpool defender
I get fed up reading about how he measures up against other centre backs, He is a rock in our team and he leads by example, First on my teamsheet any day.
If you want to bum up another teams player over one of our greats do it elsewhere.

Not that I should have to justify myself, I wouldnt swap Carra for anyone in the world, and as that gent pointed out, it was a comparison over who was most rounded. In my opinion its Rio over Carra.

as well as defending very well rio can pass the ball and scores from corners every now and again, i'd say carra is stronger in his passion, determination and drive.
agger is potentially our rio imo. carra and rio are different types of defenders.

What the hell are you on about?? Where did I say I would rather have Ferdinand than Carragher?
Based on your logic, we could have a conversation like this:
ME: Kevin Davies is far stronger than Torres.
YOU: What the fcuk are you on about, Torres is way stronger - he plays for Liverpool. Can't beleive you'd rather have Davies than Torres.

Don't get upset and start making up silly scenario conversations
Read the book again matey, Carragher said Ferdinand had a reputation as a ball player starting attacks from the back, but he's never seen much evidence of that over the years, he also said Ferdinand is obviously a very good defender but always thought he was capable of challenging him for a place in the England team.
He went on to say that later in his career he could see why Ferdinand got in the team because Carragher was so similar to Terry and he thought Terry had better vision than him, and with Ferdinand they made a better balanced pair.
Cant see where he says Ferdinand is more rounded than him
And I still don't see it, for me Carragher every time, you don't agree fine, I'm happy with that.

To me that is as fair and true an assessment as you could get.
I think people underplay the importance of the CH PAIR. Ferdinand alongside a Terry or a Vidic is an entirely different proposition than Ferdinand alongside for example Silvestre.
If the two CHs complement each other well then both will look better than they are as individuals. The whole being greater than the sum of the parts.
As individuals, Carra is clearly a better defender than Ferdinand. Anyone who watches Manure on a regular basis can recount the numerous times that Vidic has swept up behind Rio as he once again lost concentration and missed a runner or a through ball.
Sure Rio can do the odd decent hoof, sure he can score the odd goal. But 5 minutes left two against one. Who would your money be on? I'd have Vidic, Skrtel, Carra, Terry well ahead of Rio. Well ahead. And no amount of positive BS from the press will convince me otherwise.
