Several clubs were interested in Dalla Valle and Liverpool invited him to a test camp in autumn 2006. In October 2007 Chelsea offerred Dalla Valle a 3.5 year contract with a million pound signing bonus. Furthermore they promised to double any offer by Liverpool. Nevertheless, in November 2007 Dalla Valle announced that he had chosen Liverpool as his new team. The parties signed a contract extending until 2011.
This is not the first time Dalla Valle is playing abroad. Earlier he spent about three months in Italy, playing in Inter, but he returned back to Finland to play in Joensuun Jippo.
Lauri Dalla Valle's father, Loreno Dalla Valle, is an Italian businessman running a mushroom export business in Joensuu.
How odd. Bit late for that really as he left them due to being homesick and then signed professional terms with us until almost 2012. Very strange link.

Christ on a bike, they were pretty keen in getting him - lucky that Laurie saw the light and joined the Reds. Let's hope that he is the next Jarin Litmanen!!:respect:
Got a good feeling about this kid

 That atricle did say he used to play for Inter. I remember that being reported when we signed him too.
He seems to be THE top prospect in the under 18 side now. Been on fire this season, scoring loads of goals. Fingers crossed he makes it, those youtube clips that were doing the rounds when he signed showed he is an insanely skillful midget Henrik Larsson lookalike

From my academy thread:
Lauri Dalla Valle
Lauri is the Finn wonderkid who everyone wanted to sign and has been described by LFC staff as the most natural goalscorer ever seen for his age. He signed for Inter at schoolboy level as his dad is Italian and a big Inter fan but he become homesick after 4 months and returned to his homeland where Liverpool convinced him his future was here last January and scored 5 goals in 6 matches for the under 16's. He scored ridiculas amounts of goals at schoolboy level and has the ability to convert it to professional level, so watch out for the finn in the white boots this season.

There is an Academy thread :jaw:
Only joking. I regularly check it, its a great thread. BTW Milky any chance you could ever post any links to goals, game highlights etc. (Livvy sytle). Would be great to actually see some footage of the Academy team in action. To this day I still havent managed to catch any footage of Dalla Valle playing for the Under 18s.

There's an interesting thread on all this on The Liverpool Way forum if anyone wants to read more.
Apparently Ablett asked for Ecclestone to be promoted. That request was granted and he started training at Melwood. A week or so later Rafa met with Ablett and after that meeting Ecclestone was sent back to the Academy on the basis that there were too many forwards in the reserves.
Obviously suggests political point scoring going on and there seems to a bit of a cold war going on between Parry and Rafa with the Academy being Cuba.
What's making things a little worse is that some of the forwards we do have in the reserve squad apparently aren't anywhere near as good as Ecclestone. The Brazilian we signed, Flora, is supposed to be fairly ordinary apparently.
