Ok, so we're not far from the mid-season transfer window, here are a few of the interesting rumours i've seen:-
1. Benni + cash for Elano - This could be an interesting move, is Elano a better player? I think so...would he be first team? not sure.
2. Babel to Real Madrid. I hate the way Real think they can do whatever they want in the transfer market, if (and it's a very very big if) Babel leaves i'd hate it if he went there.
3. Players + cash for Diego Ribas - This guy is one of the best attacking midfielders in europe, for those who don't know he players for Werder Bremen and Brazil
4. FC Copenhagen defender Matthias Jorgensen, 18. A deal worth £250,000 has rumoured to have been agreed, he won his first international cap against Wales during the week, its reported he's a "great young talent".
5. Wayne Bridge. Is he better than Dossena? Yes, is he better than Aurilo? Not sure...would Chelsea sell to us? who knows.
Here are a few of the interesting ones i've seen. Who do people think we should sign? IMO if we have the cash Diego would be an amazing signing and maybe would give us that bit extra in the 2nd half of the season.
I suppose the main factor on who we sign is how much cash we have, the ideal scenario would be for a new owner to come in before January...wishful thinking, I know!
My sources are telling me big Emile could well be on his way back to Anfield.
Watch this space folks.
My sources are telling me that there will be 'a sale' in January, maybe Next.

I really can't see this.
Does it make sense from his point of view? he's currently an important player at Wigan, playing whenever he is fit, he's back in the England squad. If he joins Liverpool he will be 5th choice behind Torres, Keane, Kuyt and Babel, unless one or more are sold. Kuyt has been linked with a move to Martin Jol's Hamburg and Babel has been linked with Madrid, but I really can't see either of those moves going ahead.
Why would Rafa spend money on a stiker he has already deemed surplus to requirements when he has bigger weaknesses in the team.

There is some mileage in this, not saying it's going to happen, but there is smoke.

Perhaps Rafa sees Emile as another option in attack - big presence, knows the prem etc.
Who knows, we'll have to wait and see what happens with this one. Stranger things have happened though.
Under Rafa, nothing surprises me.

What's on the menu ? Humble Pie :eyebrow:
My sources are telling me that Colin Kazim-Richards (aka Kazim- Kazim, aka the English/Turkish Ronaldo, aka Colin the Kebab) Will be signing for us in Jan for 4mill.
Mark it down. He's world class

my source telling me he knows fuck all but he thinks we will not sign anyone.
What I would like to see, taking into account we have to sell to buy.
Babbel, Pennant moved on. 12 - 15m
Ngog moved on 1m
Nemeth brought in to replace Ngog, Kuyt to replace Babel.
A decent right winger brought in 10m
Lucas got rid. 3-5m
Diego Ribas brought in 10m
Maybe this kid Matthias Jorgensen, 18 as a potential replacement long term for Sammy, but he will have to compete with what we already have in the reserves.
I've got a feeling we might go for that Polish Kuba fella.
Would also like to see us put in a sneaky bid for Roque Santa Cruz, but doubt that'll happen.
Anyway, the most important thing here is that I move this to the correct forum :D
We are going to sign Bernt Haas, a world class right back from Switzerland. His sister is coming with him.

If there's a 'big' sale, I could see it being Babel if the offer is right.
I think we'll do fuck all in January.
Why would Rafa spend money on a stiker he has already deemed surplus to requirements when he has bigger weaknesses in the team.
Heskey had already been sold to Birmingham before Rafa came in - perhaps the already agreed deal to bring in Cisse had to be part financed by that deal.
Personally although Big Emile's time was up at Anfield I doubt Rafa would have agreed to the sale BEFORE he had chance to see him for himself.

Arsenal and Tottenham are keeping tabs on 18-year-old FC Copenhagen defender Mathais Jorgensen, who made his debut for Denmark in last week's 1-0 loss to Wales. (Daily Star)

Don’t get all this Babel slagging, the boy has definite potential and should not be sold. For me he doesn't get enough of a chance, always replacing Riera with 15/20 mins to go, 2nd half of last season he was dynamite!
Would love to see the Elano/Yossi deal happen but why would City with all their millions want Yossi, no doubt its Sunday paper bullshit!
We need to be in the market for another striker though, as well as blooding Nemeth!
I just hope we don’t sell boys without replacing them i.e Pennant, although he's not been a success is still a squad player with experience of Prem and CL.

:handshake: rafa said start of season his plan was to have babel lose his tag as super sub and have him play 90 min games for us and be just as devastating. trouble is, after he came back from his injury and the olympics his form has been shite. he comes on late in games and makes no impact and looks really un-interested. i pray and hope he gets himself back in form and forces his way into the first team as he defo has world class potential but at this moment in time i think he's losing interest in making it at liverpool.
as for the elano / yossi rumours. think id rather stick with yossi. elano may have more pace but yossi is better at sitting on the bench for 70 mins then coming on to take advantage of tired legs when trying to unlock tight defenses IMO.
pennat, lucas out i hope.
big emile back in the old red shirt would be great. he's defo what we need.

I pray this is as wrong as it sounds. There is no way we should get that lumbering donkey back :shake:

Maybe but we haven't really got any wide players pressing for the first team, apart from El Zhar who to me doesn't look up for it! In the worst case scenario we had injuries in a vital game I would rather call on boys who have at least been in the same environment! I'm all for giving youth a go though and we should be blooding boys for the last 10 mins or so in games that we're comfortably winning!

Selling Babel would be a big mistake.
Diego would be interesting but where would we play the lad? Surely he plays the Stevie/Keane role?
With Kuyts contributions being so good currently id say that if fit we have the top end sorted, Riera, Xabi, Masch, Kuyt, Gerrard, Torres all nailed on starters.
Its the 2 full back positions that are once again letting us down and even then Arbeloa is having a good season.
For me its Left back, right winger and replace Keane with someone else.
Honest.

1. Don't see the point. Especially with the rumour that we would have to give cash or a player on top. If Benni is unhappy we may well sell him though.
2. Babel still can't play more than 60 minutes and despite all his talent that isn't good enough. Rafa doesn't seem to have faith in him. If he isn't working hard or progressing in training selling him isn't a terrible idea. We would need a pacy replacement though and I would much rather he reached his potential with us.
3. Where would he fit in the team. We have Keane and Gerrard competing for the spot behind Torres and we won't be selling Keane in January. Never seen him play so won't comment on his individual quality.
4. Nice and cheap if he can play fullback then he would be most welcome.
5. Still don't know how Dossena will eventually settle. I think we should stick with Aurelio, Insua and Dossena for the season. Chelsea wouldn't sell to us, especially after our good start to the season.
I really don't see how Diego would fit in. Good player though.
I'd get rid of Pennant and Yossi if he doesn't get more games and look for a wide player with either great pace or great set pieces - preferable for the right hand side. I think we will only have money from sales to spend.

this is liverpool, we dont do winning the easy way!!
when fergiescum blooded ronaldo through, that was the most perfect way!!
Diego would be a fantastic signing, he really would but I just cannot see it happening unless Keane is off.
Realistically I can only see us signing another LB. Dossena could be gone in January - aside from his performances he just does not seem to look settled and I would not be surprised to hear him wanting a quick move back to Italy.
Isn't it too soon to sell a player in January after buying them in previous Summer?
If not I'd sell Dossena and Keane and buy Santa Cruz instead. Promote Insua to the first team squad

Nope.
It goes by the year, not the transfer window. So we could sell Dossena if we wanted too, as its a new year in January....even though he's only been here for 6 months. But anyone bought in January cannot be sold until the next January.

Personally I'd say it's too soon anyways.
Give 'em at least a full season before judging and offloading.

It's going to be a quiet January. Our owners have no money and with the exception of one or two moneybags clubs, not many will be buying given the economy.
For surplus players like Pennant the knock on effect is that these player values will drop even further.

Christ, I hope not. He was a useless lump who looked like he was playing in roller skates, so much time did he spend on his arse. He's also injury prone and, scoring-wise, couldn't hit a cow's arse with a handful of rice. I couldn't believe we got £6m or so from Birmingham for him. It was daylight robbery. He's nowhere near the quality we should be aiming for. Peter Crouch is like Maradona in comparison with Heskey and I was glad we offloaded him too. It would be a very retrograde step if we signed the useless lump again

I think if we do business with Wigan it will be for Valencia. Would not be surprised if we tried to snap up Zaki in the Summer.

I would move Kuyt up front and bring another real winger into the squad.
New winger/El Zar-------Gerrard/Mascher/Scabby/Diego Ribas ----------Riera/Benny
----------------------------Kuyt/Keane/Nemeth/Torres

So in essence you are saying we need we ned the exact same players that most of us were asking for at the end of last season - a right back, a left back and a right winger.
Oh dear.........
Nowt will hapen.
Yossi - Babel - Ngog etc. going nowhere - it's only been 5 bloody minutes for crying out loud.

The two in bold are young so fair enough. But Yossi is not and will not ever be good enough for our first eleven. Why not sell and give someone a chance who could be?
